...heat treat oven?

I am looking to upgrade my shop built 14" ID chamber to either an Evenheat KF 18 or KF 22.5. I don't see myself ever needing the 22.5" model but you never know, and it's only $50 more.

Aside from a smaller footprint, does the KF 18 have any noticeable advantage over the 22.5"? For those who have the 18 have you ever wished you had gotten the larger one?

Also, I'm pretty well convinced that the Set-Pro is all I need and the $85 extra is just overkill for the Rampmaster III. But then again I'd like to hear your suggestions.

I have the 22.5" and I wish it was bigger. :D

I was stuck trying to make the same decision as you (between the 18" vs. 22.5"). In the end I decided on the 22.5" model, purely because it was a relatively low opportunity cost ($50) given the overall spend, just in case I need it one day.

I have a 36" one and wish I had a smaller oven when I only have one blade in the oven. Ideally I would have two. a small one and a big one.

I have the 18" and at times wish it were the 22.5". I went with the rampmaster and love it. I have 3 heat treat programs set and 4 temper programs set. Its nice to push 2 buttons and go instead of programming it each time I want to use it.

I have the 18 and I got it thinking I would never need the 22. But in hindsight I wish I got the bigger one. More for the fact that I wouldn't mind doing a few hawks. I doubt it takes much longer to heat up and fifty bucks isn't to much. Problem also was when I purchased my kiln I was ordering a new grinder at the same time and the combined price tag was a lot of money. If you got it go for it.

Thanks guys. I'll go with the 22.5 and even just got the blessing from my wife. She must be running a fever!

Awesome! I would definitely recommend the Rampmaster controller over the Set Pro, if you can swing it. Either way, it's a great oven!

Other than the convenience of having more buttons, does the Rampster offer anything the Set Pro doesn't?

my 18 is too short some times so when i get a 2nd i ll get 36-40 incher and then be covered for all work

i get by witht the set pro and since i only used 2 or 3 main steels i can keep things close and a just when i need to (i have one set at 1500 and go a bit up o down depending on alloy and also one at 2000 again depending on alloy then the 3rd is set at 400f )
