How long to dry?

Hi,

As a continuation of my antler straightening education, how long do you generally keep the antler clamped in the vise? And do I need to stabilize when it's dry? And if so, how? can I just coat the back with a super glue? shellac? polyurethane? These are small pieces, 1/4"x1/2"x2", and are white tail antler. I know, not Sambar, but it's what I have.

Nothing wrong with Whitetail! I leave it in the vice until it's dry once dry It should stay put. no idea about the stabilization, though someantlers do not NEED stabilization. such as elk however I am not sure about whitetail. I believe I read somewhere in the stickies about what kinds of antler does and doesn't need stabilized before use.
