How long will each knife last?

I mean up-to-our-eye-balls-can't-escape-them too many knives. If knives last forever, and we keep making knives, then some day eventually there will just be TOO many knives.

IMO you are more likely to lose it before you use it up.

My bet is that the knives we hoard will be sold off by our descendants at flea markets (or by the box online) and will be littered in nooks and crannies all across the land.

I do always wonder. I sold off most of my knives and now I've got a small selection of good working knives. Personally I've kept every know that my father and grand father left me. My sister has a few too.
My boy is 4 now. I think I will try and raise him to cherish the things that I leave him, but you never know.

Nice topic.
It depends.
There are pictures of some contemporary fixed blades, that saw heavy use (under water) and were replaced.
There are pixs of a super used custom hunter, that had been sharpened till you could hardly recognize it as what it is.
I do own pocket knives from my grandfahter, which are more that 100 years old and look perfect.
Some hunters about 70 years old look pretty much abused, but still have a lot of live in it.

So it depends on the knife, the use and the care taken for it.
When i think of my Sebenza, i like the thought, that my children will once use it and hopefully remember me.

Too many knives? I hope this was a rethoric question. :)
In search for the perfect knife I found it doesn't exist. I've really come close.
