How long would you wait?

I wanted to post a poll, but I guess that option isn't available, at least not to me.

I'd like to preface this by saying that I am confident that the seller is absolutly faultless and did everything he was supposed to, and correctly. That said, I'll go on.

I just purchased my first Busse, however I don't have it, at least not yet. It's friggin lost (or stolen) in the mail!!! This is/was my Christmas present to myself. I had ordered a beautifull sheath for it the day after my knife shipped, it's here. The knife left PA, I live in FL, it went to CO, and the tracking status hasn't changed in 3 days. The sheath, that originated from CO, is here and took 2 days, AND was shipped the same. (USPS)

I know I am an impatient man, but I just have a sick feeling that I wont get it, certainly not this year. MAYBE they will find it behind some rack in some truck next year, but I doubt it.

So my question to you all is....how long would YOU wait? Also, what would YOU do when you are done waiting?

Even though both parties are faultless, I cannot file the claim with the USPS, I have to go to the seller. In a case like this, buyer gets refund from seller, seller gets $ back from shipper, correct?

I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, I've got almost $500 tied up in something I don't have, and will have to wait to get back, might be a sad, Busse-less Christmas.

You didn't tell us how long it's been in the mail. I'd wait a week before contacting the shipper...all the parcels being shipped out this time of year probably slowed it down a day or two.

I have also had packages inadvertently diverted, then the problem corrected itself. Did you call the post office and ask them?

Don't you worry about any thing at all. You bought it from me and I have never had a package not arrive. If you don't get it, I will be sure you get something else in return.
Busse also uses USPS Priority mail and sometimes they do get diverted to weird places but I don't think they have ever had anything lost either. I have had this happen to me once or twice but it always shows up. It will be found.
I can't do anything about the transit time but don't worry, you will be good to go. You have my word on it!
Dan

What does the DC number say? You should be able to track the package step by step

Your item was processed through and left our DENVER, CO 80217 facility on December 05, 2010. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

The man's on it! No worries :)

What date was it sent out?
If the seller doesn't specify USPS Priority Mail, the buyer shoud always request it. Priority mail saves alot of time issues.

a watched mailman never boils.... or something.

waiting is the worst part, but it will get to you.

Liu Kang is rock solid and will take care of you whatever the outcome.

I have no doubt, Dan seems to be an stand up guy, and like I said, have no doubt he did he part correctly and is faultless. Dan: I hope you understand I wasn't/am not trying to digg on you at all, I'm not trying to cry to the forum about you in any way, just venting about the mail, I guess. :)

It's also true that the mailman never comes when you are looking for him. I do hope you guys are right, and it will make it here shortly.

The main reason for the post, actually, was just to get a general idea of how much time YOU (the reader) would allow before taking any kind of action. Whether it be a Busse, or a teddy bear.

1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months?

Well, I've been waiting years for a Busse Folder to arrive.................:(

Well, if it's from Busse, the wait time can be many, many anxiety-ridden weeks! I have been pleasantly surprised with a few two-week-wait-times. Save for all but one or two, Busse usually has me waiting for at least 8 weeks (albeit shipping time is clear on their site – 4- 14 weeks). But, it’s not that bad of a thing (certainly pertaining to me) as you’re not billed until the knife ships. This allotment puts my mind at ease as it gives me time to save some cash I may not have had.

Edit: Dan will come through one way or another, no worries.

I had a knife I shipped to South Africa end up in Indonesia by mistake. It was returned to me 4 weeks later and the box was crushed almost beyond recognition.

I spoke with the buyer, resent the "still perfect" (go Busse go) to South Africa and the buyer ended up with his perfect ASH1.

Liu Kang will take care of you if the worst happens.

I have had packages, even with a tracking number, just seem to sit in a location for a couple days. Never really figured out what the issue was but they made it.

Just keep an eye on it on line with the tracking number.

I have had things come from USPS and say they havent moved and they arrive at my house so dont worry. Also I have had some interaction with Dan and I see him as courteous and professional. I believe most folks here in the Busse forums are serious knife people and have a higher standard of ethics... just by expecting a great product and not settling for anything less. I believe that if Dan says he will make it right he will. One way or the other.

It's my understanding that the USPS will not ship knives (and also guns) or anything that is considered dangerous.

I have always received my knives mostly by UPS or Fedex. If I am wrong please correct me.

Honestly, I can't remember what service delivered my last Busse.
