How long would you wait?

It's my understanding that the USPS will not ship knives (and also guns) or anything that is considered dangerous.

I have always received my knives mostly by UPS or Fedex. If I am wrong please correct me.

Honestly, I can't remember what service delivered my last Busse.

OK, consider yourself corrected!:)

I constantly complain to the USPS, they are especially bad in this city. If something is set to be delivered on a Thursday or Friday in my area, I won't see it until Monday, but on the web site it will be marked as "delivered".

I heard they get paid time x1.5 if they have a large package load over the weekend and that they will deliberately keep a package just for that. I use UPS every time I have the option.

You should nag them every time you have the slightest confusion about where your tracked package is or why it is sitting around somewhere for days. Not that they will respond to your email.

Ok, You're wrong... ;) :D

But seriously, Busse ships mostly through USPS and many of us do too. The term is "potentially hazardous" and if these knives are packaged carefully and safely as they should be for not only the protection of the knife within, but for those who must handle the packages containing them too, then they are not potentially hazardous.

You are right about USPS not shipping firearms, IIRC.

Here in the western 'burbs of Philly, we don't have that problem. I get them without delay.

I've received all my Busse's by USPS usually within two to three days priorty mail. I live in the heartland though not sure if that matters much.

Your item was processed through and left our DENVER, CO 80217 facility on December 05, 2010. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

If it shows no movement in a day or 2, one of you might try calling that specific PO directly to inquire about it. You have the zip of the PO, so maybe try searching the USPS website or Google "post office", "80217", "Denver", "Colorado" and hopefully you should find a local number for it.

This might be it...

I've shipped many long guns by USPS a few years ago. Most employees that work there don't even know the regulations. Unless they changed their rules recently...you can still ship long guns with USPS.

What about a switch-blade like a MT Makora II (4.25" double-sharpened-edge)? I'm sure it can be sent USPS as long as you provide the proper documentation, but what about if you are a civilian sending/receiving the knife? My understanding is that it would become a Federal crime if you used the PO as opposed to, say, UPS if you shipped to a civilian. I guess my question is: Would you get in more trouble if you sent the switch-blade using USPS instead of UPS? Again, I would guess that you would get in more (not equal or less than) trouble through USPS.

I recently bought and had shipped to me a Springfield M6 Scout (long gun), and it had to be sent to a FFL, it could not be sent directly to me.

Great News! As of this morning:

Arrival at Post Office, December 09, 2010, 6:10 am, PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL 32407

Good deal glad to hear it all worked out for the better. Must have taken the west coast detour. Now Dan let's talk about that replacement Moab that i have'nt recieved yet. :D:D

I've shipped a lot of rifles USPS, it's always a hassle though, the employees never realize that i'm able to do so. I hand them the copy of the FFL that i'm shipping it to and they just look at me blankly. That said, you need to be an FFL to ship a handgun via USPS.

Yeah man the USPS in Philly stinks. I have had several packages stolen or lost. I insure everything now. One of them was even a HRLM from the first release. Eric took care of it in record time :D

The USPS does a fine job in my town (knock on wood); albeit the town’s population is: 'in July, 2009 - *6,635' - just a touch smaller than Philly.
I had an issue sending an old-style Endura to the Netherlands using the USPS once. I traded an old-style SE Endura for a brand new SE Delica and the Delica took about 6-8 weeks to get here but the Endura arrived to Aaron in the Netherlands after about 2 weeks. He would have bought me a new one sooner but I told him to wait a little bit longer. The same day I was going to tell him that the Delica never made it, it came in the mail! He told me that he was literally going to buy me a new one the same day it arrived at my house! I have since (as this was 5 or 6 years ago) insured every knife that leaves my house.

I believe he will be getting the knife tomorrow but here are some pictures of the ASH1 CG before I shipped it along with the kydex sheath.

Yep, got it today, and it's the exact same as pictured above, so no need to post pics. But I will post a pic of the sheath I got for it. :)
