How Loud Should a Knife Close

That's largely an effect of how strong the spring is. It's like porridge: Some are too strong and could snap hard and unexpectedly, causing an injury. Some are too weak, barely holding the blade in closed position. And some are just right.

An example of "just right" to me, Victorinox.
 
Damn, and here I thought at first the OP was talking about loud "colors" :o:rolleyes:

How loud can they really be that it matters? I bet they make more noise locking up. I do have one that doesn't make any noise at all, it's a fixed blade.
