Hey Guys and Gals,

I wanted to ask this question for some time now. Many of us, at least myself purchase some sweet knives knowing that in their raw sense are users. Sometimes the beauty keeps me from using. In this post I want to discuss a perfect knife in elegance when new but just the same a knife as I have used it every day since purchased. It does not look the same.... This is one example Only From Argus custom knives, He has some fine perfectly constructed, Fine knives that are as custom as one can get. This guy lays it out in a garage. Not much of a pic....

Where are most folks hearts? The pic represents the user in many of us.. or am I wrong

OK then to the point, Awesome quality, ugly looks maybe? What do you think? No correct answer here!!!!

I think there's something to be said for both points of view. I love a pristine, flawless quality knife, but I also love seeing a hard-use knife which was beaten on, took everything the owner could throw at it, yawned and said "Meh, come back when you have something TOUGH for me to do."

If it's to be a user, it's better to come with a finish like that. It'll push folks to use 'em.

It's not "mine" until it looks like this:

Fixed or folder, I admit an attraction to knives that have seen a lot of use, especially those with a story behind them....long-time accompaniment, inheritance from a close relative, life-savers, heroic feats, etc.

For me, some of the older, used blades can be just as appealing as new ones. depending upon on how they weather and character.

I love the used look. Scratches on titanium handles, patina on the blade, non-factory bevel. I'm slightly embarrassed to pull a knife out of my pocket that looks brand new unless I just got it.

I appreciate both, but I lean heavily towards utility. My manix 2 XL remains my go to folder and, while some may disagree, I think it's on the ugly side even brand new. Thing is, it just works. On the other side, I plan to pick up a Benchmade Crooked River which will cost almost double what the Manix 2 XL cost without any real performance advantages. Why? Because it's sexy as hell.

Just ordered the G10 version........only for the sexiness!! Flat out cool looking knife!
I gave my son a custom shop Grip with AWT scales. He loves that dam blade and literally beat the piss out of it! Every time we get together he pulls it out, flips it and can't believe it's still as smooth as the day I gave it to him! It looks like absolute hell.....but is somehow still sexy!

There is a beauty to be found in highly functional forms.
