So who here wears one belt to keep your pants up and another for your knife, psk, fak, etc? If you do this, why did you decide on this setup? Pics if you got em!!

I just use one belt, but I have been thinking that a larger belt, slung kinda like a gunslingers belt might be cool for gear. Anyone do this?

I once heard belts are for holding your gear (knives, ect),
and suspenders are for holding your pants up.

get Fujita Yuji to jump in here, i saw some pics from one of his last threads where he was wearing a second belt just for his knife.
it was in winter dear though, not sure he does this all year around. but in the photos he did have a belt around the outside of his long jacket keeping his knife in easy reach.
if someone can find his old posts you'll see what i mean.

I also subscribe to the 'gunbelt' philosophy, I find it convient.

Here is my woods gear:

There's a belt under there somewhere...

Starting at the top and moving clockwise:

Becker BK9,
PSK - Maxpedition H1 pouch,
First Aid pouch - CountyComm large "PCC"
Maxpedition Mini RollyPolly, (holding some paracord)
Canteen.

I hook stuff on my lumbar strap and my pack straps, that way it is easily accessible. I don't remove my pack unless I'm bedding down for the night anyway.

I wear a fanny pack this way, with the pack sitting on my chest, and hang gear off of the strap. It works well.

I just use a pants belt and attach things to it. I really don't attach many things to my belt - just my knife. I know that Doc Canada likes to carry his knife baldric style and his baldric is simply another belt clasped at the first hole by the buckle.

I like the security of having my belt go through my pants belt loops. As an aside, I remember in my Wilderness First Aid Class we had to haul "injured" actors up hillsides and stairways. It was sure a heck of a lot easier when the individual in question had a solid belt weaved through their loops. Its a PITA hauling folks without hand-holds to grab onto.

I have a carpenters belt to hold my chopper up. I have a scandi on my pants belt. Both knives are danglers, so I can wear my pack and still get to them with ease.

I'm thinking that having a extra belt might be a good idea. You can have more options, such as using the belt baldric style or if you want to add or remove items from the belt easily.

I had given that some thought but never followed through... May have to look more into it...

I have been thinking of doing this. My issue is when I am hunting and I wear over bibs and/or a jacket depending on how cold it is. I find if I pack all of that stuff on when I hike in, I sweat (which gives me away with scent) so I try and dress minimally untill I get to where I will sit and hunt.
I would love to get a second belt that I could easily adjust the size depending on what I am wearing. I went down to the local leather maker and was looking in his shop, but I dont know if that is the most economically way to do it, or it would be better to just get a bigger, thicker nylon web belt.
Good post and one I am intrested in.

Milani, on most military bases you can buy a 2 inch thick nylon strapping belt for utility uniforms, I have them in blue, black, OD and tan. They are extremely durable and have a simple but sturdy slip style buckle. They cost about 5 bucs and I've seen em as wide as 52 inches. Could be an economical and durable alternative.

Yea good idea but I just think they are too flimsy.
I would like to have one that is think enough that won't sag if I want to place my knife, a 32 oz bottle of water and a small pouch with a psk. I really liked the set up that rksoon has. If I remember correctly he used a 5.11 belt or a spec ops one with his Bravo-1, bottle holder, and a roly mini and hope he can chime in here with some words of experience of what works from his perspective.
The belt was thicker than normal and I think it would do better to hold the weight I want to place on it.

thats what I'm talking about, any of those belts. The name brand ones cost more, the only difference is the buckle is a bit different. Rigger's belts are popular for duty wear as well and very sturdy. TOPS makes a nice looking SERE belt, I've been wondering about that for a while. I have a beautiful 2 inch, quarter inch thick leather belt I bought on clearance at American Eagle three or for years ago. It costed me 15 dollars. It is just bombproof and I wear it still today.Keep your eyes open and you can find deals like that.

Suspenders AND a belt...hmmmm....that opens a new world of possibilties. Now if I can only get my wife to buy off on suspenders...lol. I think suspenders would awesome, I could buy my pants a few sizes larger and just hold them up with the suspenders. I should have thought of this sooner because I love bib overalls but hate not being able to carry knife on my belt, finally the best of both worlds...
