How many BG42 MNANDI were made?

I'm thinkin' ZERO. The first run of Mnandi's were all numbered, and all African Blackwood, I believe. I DID own one, but it was a WHILE back! I've been outta touch.

I think I saw one for sale at one point and it was box elder I believe. It wasn't numbered if I recall correctly. There might be a picture of it somewhere in the picture thread.

The 1st Mnandis had ziricote inlays.

There was a limited edition of 25 for Knifeart, they have BG42 blades, I have number 24 of 25. Its a knife I have carried quite a bit. Inlay is redwood burl by the way.

Since CR changed their steel to S30V at Jan. 2002 and Mnandi was put into production at mid 2001, I would say there wouldn't be many BG42 version. First 200 production Mnandi were numbered, not all BG42 version. And there were Mnandi prototype that were also BG42. I have never seen the limited Knifeart edition.

I got the 122 production Mnandi. It is the same as the 005.

I have a BG-42 mnandi, unnumbered with Lignum Vitae inlays. Ive always wondering how many were made like it; few, I’m guessing.

I may have a BG42 Bocote coming back to me from the factory. I bought it without a birth certificate so I sent it in to identify the metal. Before I sent it, I took it apart and noticed the blade had no markings on it, which leads me to believe it's BG42. It's old nick design, old pivot. I assume the S30V mnandis are marked S, and the S35VN are marked V, like the sebenzas.

I'll find out when they ship it back to me whether it's BG42 or not!

There were 200 numbered with Ziricote, some were made after the switch because Chris hadn't designed the lefty yet. There were 25 of the Redwood for KnifeArt, some prototypes and a few strays with LV and Blackwood. If I had to guess I'd say between 300 and 350 total.
