How many carry a stainless "Cricket"?

What kind of an office do you work in (Information Services, law, medical), and what have your colleagues said about the Cricket that was positive?

I work in a high tech startup (semiconductors.)
On knives as small as a Native, people have had negative reactions (why do you need that/don't make him angry/etc.)

OTOH the cricket is viewed as "cute" and when people have borrowed it to open boxes, everyone likes the blade shape as the tip hooks into the material to be cut precisely.

How cool is that. Best of luck to you.

When you hand the Cricket to someone who wants to borrow it, do you let them open it or do you open it for them? And who usually closes it?

I have found that while people can generally open it, no one can close it. My wife still can't/won't -- doesn't want to break a nail!

Usually divides by gender: Ladies hand it back to me like a dead mouse so I can close it for them. Guys consider it a point of honor and will rotate it/push on it until they figure it out or I tell them how to disengage to lock. I work with a couple guys that actually carry knives at times, so they already know how.

I agree with the division by gender. The "dead mouse" comparison is right on target.

I was thinking about steel when I left the post that started this thread, and then forgot to come back and check. Of course my SS Cricket has a "VG-10" blade! You know how it is...sitting in front of you keyboard...looking at your wonderful collection of Spyderco knives...Well, you can get kinda lost in thought. I am a Cricket fan. I'm sure hoping for a carbon fiber run again. (Hint, Hint)
The Cricket~~a small knife that cuts like a much larger knife. I love 'em! Sorry for the confusion I started. Mea culpa.

got my ss se in the mail yesterday... serious upgrade form the frn and tufram versions I have. thinner spine, vg-10, framelock(stronger and zero play), and a modified tip(smooth arc instead of s curve on tip to)

I'm waiting of my S/S cricket arriving - hopefully in the next few days. Been wanting one for a while - looks like a sweet knife.

I'm getting the Cricket bug myself.I have a Black FRN SE and a Pink FRN SE.I'll be looking for S/S and Alluminum, then Carbon Fiber. When will it ever end?tom.

after asking about stainless grips - that I previously stayed away from - I must say that I am extrememly impressed and indeared to the quality, and feel of my new SS Cricket that I bought yesterday to go with my FRN version.

I cannot escape the fact that I think this is a better product that the FRN. But I am still find of my FRN. I will get many many years of great ears out of both.

I now am going to go for the Harpy and other SS models. Thanks folks!!:p

peshkabz,

See...what did I say? (in the other s/s thread on the Spyderco "home" forum)0

Best wishes, Jeff/1911.

VW,

You really like the serrated Cricket, do you? I have been trying to decide which to buy for awhile. What made you choose toothy over pe, if you don't mind my asking? Also, who did you order yours from?

Jeff/1911.

There's an Plain SS Cricket in my wife's purse. She loves the round shape when it's closed and the cute little beak when it's opened.

Anyone take the pocket clip off their stainless Cricket? That would make a REALLY thin package. I think about doing it sometimes with all the stuff I carry in my pockets.

KR

Jeff/1911> I got my ss se from Allen Treat. The reason I got se on the cricket to begin with is back when I bought the tufram. spent a while comparing the 2, and the se really gives a lot more grabbing space. start pull cuts with the base, and then zip down with the tip.

KR> no, but I did this to it.
