How Many Days Till the AWB Falls? OT

Keeping the credit card balance paid up for needful spending. ( In other words, holding onto the cash for off-record purchase of new fullcap mags, etc. )

I need to get some 30 round ers for my M1. I wanted to get some but they went way up when they passed that ban.

I've been doing a bit of searching. The NIB ar-15 mags were selling for ~40 this summer, now at least at CDNN, they are $22.99, CDNN is a good company to deal with. Maybe prices are already dropping. But I dont' think that it'll affect M-1 Carbine mags, the problem with them is that they are not being made anymore, not that an arbitrary law prevents us lowly vermin from owning them.

Fulton Armory is listing m-1 Carbine mags at $24.99 each?!? (Although that forward scope mount for the carbine is neat, I have similar set ups on most of my weapons.)

KyImports, whom I can't recommend, has the same for $19.99 each and better deals for quantity. If you ever get to Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot, ask for Bill at Shooter's Supplies Tables, he'll be able to help you if anyone can.

Rusty,

Please don't buy too many mags, I still need more AK & Hi-Power Mags...

KY is what is left over from the great chinese surplus deals of yesterday, isn't it? Kengs.

God, they were great in their time.

They handled polytech.

I don't know about all that. Kyimports is a distributor not far from my house that err distributes guns and accoutrements. www.kyimports.com However the owner/operator, has to be one of the nastiest people I've ever dealt with. I've dealt with nasty people on a daily basis since I was 18. IMHO if you scraped the bottom of a cesspool, put the result into a 55 gal drum and boiled it down until it would fit into a measuring cup, you'd have about 42% of the nasty factor of that yahoo. I've even managed to completely block his name out of my head.

Note that isn't the Good Nasty Factor that posts here, this is the evil gross nasty. Don't want to hurt and feelings.

I couldn't tell from the page if it was the old Kengs or not.

Probably find out on AK47.nuts or the AR15 forum
Looking it over, I don't think it is. Last I saw from Kengs, they were mostly AK parts and accesories.

I love America.

Wait instead for Armalite to release that with the folding stock- as the original. AR16 cannot have a folder, but this gas piston system can.

Slap a $25 ( 1994 dollars ) buck 20 round fixed chinese SKS mag onto an SKS and a Butler Creek stock and you've got one heckuva nice truck gun.

My SKS cost less than most of my knives ($80 in 1993). I keep all the parts original just so I can feel good about what a value I got for the price.

I've never been able to shoot anything with a folding stock very well. Just doesn't seem to hold as steady.

It has to be a good folding stock.

I had a pinned barrel SKS for 79 bucks once- it was the most accurate one I ever had, and I"ve owned 4 or 5. Lord, there's even a Russian sks calling to me next year....

I have a Russian one that I've had for a long time. It is a really good shooting gun.

However it stopped shooting. I have not broke the bolt down yet cause I have been putting it off but the problem (it seems) that the firing pin is not striking the primer well enough. I brushed out the bore really well in case the shells were sticking or something. No luck. I took the bolt out and shot some WD 40 in the bolt and wiggled the firing pin back and forth. It moved smoothly and did not appear to have the tip broken off or be snapped in the middle, although I didn't remove it from the bolt.

It's almost like the spring isn't strong enough. Any SKS heads out there have any suggestions? My next move was to remove the firing pin and maybe try it and a new spring?

I've never heard of one that stopped shooting. I did see one once in which the pinned barrel had rattled loose after untold thousands of rounds in the High Desert. I wrote to the Rifleman about this but they assured me such was impossible. I figure they just didn't know the Loons in the High Desert.

The spring sounds like a logical first step. Too bad you're not here- I know a gunsmith who could fix it cheap. Probably cost you 10 bucks and parts.

This is one from the 50's with all milled parts and a threaded barrell.

There's a gunsmith not far from me, but my work and play schedule, plus that I have lots of other guns to shoot has kept me from bringing it over.

Hollow- I'm going to Cody today and I'll get a chance to see the famous firearm museum and play the great CD's you sent to me. Thank you.

I saw it in the early 70's with my dad. I remember the Remingtons and Russells - ( the artwork and bronzes ) more than any of the guns. And at that time I was a card holding member of the gun of the month club. ( More than that I couldn't sneak past my dad - but I could sometimes "get" him and he'd sneak back and buy one for himself ).
