How many did you order, 1 or 2? Simple poll only 3 possible answers...

0)
1)
2)

For the first time in 11 years of forum knives I was able to buy 2, actually I bought 1 for my daughter to give as a gift to her BF my future SIL.

i ordered 2. i would have ordered two even if there was no limit. one to carry and use and one as a backup incase of loss. or if a trad regular misses out i will offer it to them.

I like the idea of a Forum Knife, and I appreciate the work that a small set of folks invested (and are still investing) in this to make it all happen, and I think it's a pretty cool knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

But the actual procedure just isn't my "shopping style". I don't think the procedure could be set up to avoid the "feeding frenzy" or "lolly scramble" or whatever you want to call it, but I just don't buy stuff that way.:D

I hope all of you that decide to get this year's Forum Knife enjoy your knife (or knives) immensely!!:cool: I look forward to seeing them posted here on The Porch once delivery day arrives!

I ordered 2. I actually wasn't going to order any because I dislike natural micarta; but I have yet to own a TC, and this was my chance to get in at base price. I opted for two because I will try dying the scales; and if it comes out horribly, I might try replacing them - so I could need the spare, lol

I just ordered one. Trying to save up for a new and larger Gun safe. They get real expensive real fast.
With that said I really need to have a forum knife!

You know, I would have to agree with you. I generally avoid the typical feeding frenzies in regards to the numerous short runs and SFOs that occur rather frequently. Kudos to those who have the patience and reflexes to get in on them, you most certainly are able to get in on some beautiful knives, its just not something I can participate in with any regularity. That being said, with the overall desirability and collectible nature of a TC Barlow, I highly doubt the process could have been made to avoid the mad scramble. Though I have yet to hear that they have been sold out, so who knows, maybe the worries were for naught?

I enjoyed being involved in the process of selecting this years knife though. It was fun, enlightening, somewhat nerve wracking, yet rewarding all the same. I was compelled to throw my hat in the race, so to speak, and hoped to be fortunate enough to be able to acquire what was shaping up to be a very desirable knife. Though the overall frenzy gave a somewhat sour flavor to the whole experience, I am hoping the knife will be worth the fuss. I only ordered one and it will be my first TC Barlow and second Forum knife. I am rather proud to be a part of the Porch, it is easily one of my favorite spots in these Forums.

I ordered one.
If, by some freak chance there's some unsold and I have any money left after the Fourth of July holiday, I might order a spare. I doubt that will happen. :D

I ordered two. I like your answers for the poll T. Erdelyi T. Erdelyi .

I know I only need one, but I 'wanted' one to put back. I wish I had done that with the #35. I love that knife and it's my most used GEC. It felt appropriate to use it like I did the forum to learn cutlery.

Brett, I have every one so far including the Uncle Henry's Lost Souls Schrade that was kinda the precursor to the Traditional forum's knife. The Schrade Gen3 Canoe was put together by a member here on the heels of Schrade's demise. We got our knives just about the time Schrade had it's auction and finally closed it's doors for good, that was back in '05. The following year we got Canal Street Cutlery to produce our first forum knife a Ring Opener Pen Knife with a manicure blade in burnt stag. There were 37 knives made that year IIRC, we've come a long way with 500 vs the 30 of the first year and it's due in no small part to members like Barry, Charlie Gus and so many others who over the years have donated time, materials, blood, sweat and tears to see that we had an annual knife for the traditional forum's members to celebrate this hobby of ours. :)

These were all the Schrade goodies we got to, some of the 100 year anniversary memorabilia which unfortunately they closed the doors just short of their 100 year mark.

Not sure why I was singled out, Im sure no offense was meant.

Im familar with the history of the forum knives and the amount of energy involved in it's production. Im grateful for those who have given their time and energy. Unlike some, I dont have the funds to buy a knife thst doesnt speak to me for a collection, or out of loyal to the forum, or admiration for those involved.

I also dont believe the idea that there was much involment in the forum knife the past few years as it would seem the knives were decided for us and we had no real choice in the matter. A small group if not an individual decided for us what it would be. I have no complaint in that as the money should have a large voice.

I do love looking through you forum knife collection and the history of each.

Nevermind, skipped the "BFC" in the title somehow...
:eek::D

If it had been a spear or clip blade I'd of ordered one. I was almost tempted to get one because I know I could flip it later at a profit though.

No offense taken and I wasn't singling you out, just replyin' with my take on the forum knives. Every year's knife doesn't appeal to everyone and there's no way to please everyone so why try?:) Again I didn't take offense to anything you said and thought we were just shootin' the breeze.

One of the things I've accepted over the years was the responsibility to maintain a complete collection regardless of whether I like the knife or not. I've been lucky so far since there were only 4 out of the 11 make that 12 knives we've had so far. I'm glad you enjoy the family pics I do and the continuing history of the forum knives I've been workin' on. Lookin' forward to discussin' knives and what ever else comes up during the course of a thread. :)
