  • 1) Only ordered 1, at $85 for 1 delivered in the US it was all I could afford

  • 2) Ordered 2, if Barry let me order 10 I'd order 10. As it is I could only get 2 max so I got 2. :)

Every year around this time, never any extra knife $. Not complaining, just why I didn't order one.

I set up Bots, fake addresses worldwide and thus cornered the market gained access to 400 examples.

Going to melt three quarters of them, serialize the rest and create a faux scarcity....

You've got it all wrong Will. Corner the market, put one on the market and when the begging starts sell 400 simultaneously. Who's the wiser? hahaha

You're not wrong Alan:D

Now I can retire to the Med and claim I'm helping the knife community from my scholarship & altruism, yeah right:cool:

It's easier than that! Just be the first one to list a knife and pic some arbitrary inflated price! Everyone will follow suit.

I ordered two one for me and one for a good friend who is a member here that the timing didn't work out for him to get one. It was kind of like a payback for a very desirable knife he gifted me when I didn't have the funds to get one.

Not sure why I was singled out, Im sure no offense was meant.

Im familar with the history of the forum knives and the amount of energy involved in it's production. Im grateful for those who have given their time and energy. Unlike some, I dont have the funds to buy a knife thst doesnt speak to me for a collection, or out of loyal to the forum, or admiration for those involved.

I also dont believe the idea that there was much involment in the forum knife the past few years as it would seem the knives were decided for us and we had no real choice in the matter. A small group if not an individual decided for us what it would be. I have no complaint in that as the money should have a large voice.

I do love looking through you forum knife collection and the history of each.
That pretty much reflects my take on the entire Traditional Forums knife procedure. Frankly, having a couple people essentially decide makes a lot of sense to me and I don't worry about it. But to say it is some sort of forum collaboration is an over statement.

I WAS going to get this year's forum knife. Frankly it sold out before I even knew you could order one. Considering this case is not limited to me personally, I would limit purchases to a single knife in the future and then offer more available if the production quota is not filled to make the whole thing work financially. I have no particular love for TC barlows. I like barlows, but that is as far as it goes. I don't really collect (or resell) and having a pile of TC's doesn't make much sense to me. I own two. With regard to TC SFO's, any one that I might be interested in has to have two blades. No exceptions other than a forum knife.

Added: I might add that I am not trying to be critical of the procedure for the choices made on the forum knife. I understand the finances generally and you can't please everyone. All is well, and not getting this year's knife is fine with me if other people are happy. I won't "stand in line" to buy a knife. It is simply not my style. I refuse to buy on the secondary market at inflated prices. Let other people who care more about such things play as they wish.
