Recently thought about this after a new griptillian and leatherman were stolen by either the cable guy or the drywaller. Also lost a spyderco clipit in a bar. The worst was a BM 940 that was basically brand new. I lost it while moving. Think it fell into a box that was subsequently thrown out. Funny thing is I still have crappy knives from my youth that I can't lose no matter how hard I try.

A couple years ago I had a Cold Steel Gunsite folder stolden from my mailbox...(I know it arrived, due to the USPS Delivery Confirmation "tracking")...That was a pisser..

I had my entire small collection stolen by my brother who pawned them. I got some of them back but not all. More recently I have lost or had stolen a g10 harpy and a CS ti-lite. I really miss that harpy.

That's funny, I found a Cold Steel Gunsite folder in some cranky old guy's mailbox a couple of years ago... :p

I've lost some throwers, of course...as do most people...in taller grass and one crazy ricochet that landed in some forest.

The worst? A very expensive Bowie, about 10-11" with perfect blade, smooth wood handles, and a pure brass guard and tang plating. Showpiece.

I was in the process of moving, and was afraid it would get lost. So I asked a friend of mine to hold on to it until I asked for it back.

I asked for it back. "Yeah, well...funny thing about that..." Apparently, his basement flooded, and the knife was too damaged to save.

Damaged by a little water? Where is it? Let me see it...you could have soaked this thing in brine for a week and still saved it!

"Well, uh..." He no longer had it. He effing lost it. He made it up to me by buying a $50 throwing hatchet. I guess that was pretty much the same thing.

Nice guy. But the last time he *ever* watched anything for me.

I'm a chronic "loser", that's how my accumulating started. I was paranoid about losing any more knives so I stopped carrying one. Before I knew it, I had a dozen knives in new condition! Recently I've lost my one-and-only carry knife, an Opinel.

While living in Arkansas several years ago, someone stole about a dozen knives that I had bought during a two-year period. Some were easy to replace, some weren't difficult to find again but I had to pay higher prices, and some were difficult to find at all. The thievery was in 1992-ish, and only this year I was able to find another Schrade Pro-Hunter without having to pay 'collector' prices. I'm still looking for an unusual Aristocrat knife that locked with a bar that slipped into a notch on the blade.

If you do, you might recognize it as yours!

When they broke in my car about 2 years ago, they also grabbed my Leatherman Supertool :grumpy:

Misplaced many, only lost 2, a Viele/Spyderco, and an AG Russell One Hand Knife.

My daughter replaced the Viele/Spyderco for fathers day last year, and the AG, I replaced about 10 years ago.

I lost a case texas toothpick with pocketworn redbone scales. But I have no desire to have any more case knives now that I've discovered Queen.

Also had a gerber multitool stolen from my car. That one I do miss.

On the plus side, one time I found an imperial schrade lockback while camping.

I have lost three.
My cub-scout knife. (no friggin idea, but I do have the first knife given to me.That one was the second.)
A SAK Classic (lost).
Lovless etched Gerber Gardian (stolen at a show, back when I used to set up at shows).

Here is a good one that was lost and found.
Gave my dad a nice stag folder made by Pete Peterson. It was an auction knife from the Blade ABS dinner 5 or 6 years ago.

Dad loves this knife and he lost it. Tore him up good looking for it for weeks and may have come close to driving my mom crazy;) and he gave up. It stayed lost for a year. He put on a pair of shoes that he seldom wears one day and about broke his toe. :)

All we can guess is that he forgot to take it out of his slacks one day and hung the pants up in his closet. Plunk ... the knife landed in the shoe.

Check those shoes that you never wear :D.

Lost = Chris Reeve Mnandi with Ivory scales

Stolen = Al Mar SERE (mini) white micarta scales (one month ago   )

i lost my sak twice :grumpy: before i learned to use the lanyard ring. a friend did end up finding my knife eventually though

I have never stolen a knife... but i lost a benchmade 721 combo edge camping ... three days after i bought it.

Hydraulicman

A BM Monochrome is somewhere in the bottom of a lagoon in the Yucatan. If you find it let me know and there will be a reward :)

Same here, Andy_L. I've never really lost one of my own knives, but others have.

Before I got into higher-quality knives, I had a S&W SWAT knife that was my EDC. Thought I lost it one day at work, so I bought another one. A coworker had found it and put it somewhere else. So when they finally told me, and it was back in my hands, I gave the new one to my brother, since I had broken in the old one.

Some time later, he lost it.

I was already into better knives at that time, so I gave him the other, now disused, SWAT. He eventually lost that one, too.

I'm not giving him any more knives.

Last July, I lost my Tops 107C. I was pissed. Anyway, gave it to my mom for any problems that may occur while the rest of the guys and I were fishing. I told her, oh well. So a little while back, I almost buy the knife again, but said nahh.

Low and behold, night before last, I was cleaning out her car due to an "incident" and right under the frickin' drivers seat, there it is.

Answer:

Lost Knife - Hit animal = knife (Sheesh)
