How Many, In Original Boxes, Where Stored?

I'm curious how many knives you might have, if they are in the original boxes, and where you keep them.

I don't really know how many I have, I would guess between 20 and 40. I keep to boxes stacked on a shelf, and the knives in cigar boxes.

I keep the knives in cigar boxes and the boxes stored away in the drawer of an old dresser. When I had young kids, they would "make me a knife box" out of cigar boxes for Xmas or birthday. These are as treasured as the knives they contain.

Do you want a map - and the hours I'm not home, too? Sorry, if you need storage suggestions, you could have been a bit less invasive with your query! You're a bit new to the dance here - and don't list your home area.

I don't understand this last response and sure don't see how it is "invasive". Never the less, I was after suggestions on where to keep the knives I will be collecting (shoebox, dresser drawer, display case, etc) and if those of you who have been collecting for some time keep the knives in their original boxes or out of the boxes. And yes I am curious how many knives different people have. Oh, and I live in Everson, WA which is about 20 miles from the Canadian border in NW Washington State. Stainz I can pm you my home address and phone number if you feel like you need it. ;)

How is his thread invasive?
All he asked is how many knives we have and how we store them... I don't see the big deal there.

I'm down to about nine(11 if you include the Victorinox Classics) right now. I used to have well into the 50's and 60's but decided quite a while ago, I just simply don't need that many knives laying around.

As for how I displayed, or stored my knives when I had a whole bunch, I had them all out of their boxes and sitting next to each other in a specific order in the first two drawers of one of these:

I kept the boxes stacked in the bottom drawer.

Now that I don't have so many, I steel keep my boxes/pouches and such in the bottom drawer, but the knives are in a fleece lined case with 12 slots for knives. I try to keep the number below that 12, but that's hard sometimes lol.

lolWat?

Stainz' comment want too far fetched IMO. it's much more common than you think for people to post about their valuables online, including where they are stored, and then be targeted by burglars. it's often easy to track people down from forums if they're not careful.

so, we have a brand new guy who jumps right into asking how many we have ($) and where we store them... it can look a little fishy.

not that I think the OP was doing that, but it does pay to be careful.

that said, I only have two very cheap knives and I keep them in a large safe with posted security 24/7 :p

I can understand folks not wanting to disclose all that information; many past threads have received similar answers from folks that have been around here for a while...

Asking about storage solutions would've yielded better results, and there's already a few threads about em here anyway.

Asking for info on how you store your knives(i.e. in boxes, containers, etc.), how big a collection may be, or storage suggestions, I understand....but the manner in which the OP started this thread could raise an eyebrow or two.

Sorry i dont see why people are so scared to answer his questions. Its almost 100% that the long time members have knife collections they keep in there home. Anyone can find out who the longtime members are and with more digging possible find out where they live. All this without any of you answering to this thread. So if all this can be established without you answering his questions what are you scared of?

In the last 10 years I have kept most all of my knife and gun box's and I keep the box's in the top of my closet.

I am glad I have since my son is about to move out in a few days. Now I can place his guns and knives in the original box's and put them in a big chess and they can ship with out getting banged up. It will also look nicer in the top of his closet when he unpacks and put everything up.

I keep my knives in a drawer next to my bed. I think I may just go put them all in the original box's to store them. It will look good. All my bullets stacked next to my knives in their box's all in a neat row.

My problem is not that the original poster may be a thief but my problem is he might be a cop wanting to know how I protect myself because he wants to kick in my door and attack me. Long story and not something I would share here.

Matter if fact I am going to put everything back in its original box. My shoes, my computer, my tv and everything else. It will look much cleaner and give me something to do.

Everything of any value goes in one of my three Safes ~~ as one is for just Guns mainly and two is for Knives mainly and the third one is for just about anything plus Guns & Knives.! I have to hunt for everything I look for as none of it is written down or on my PC ~~ so it can be rather nasty if I need anything in particular right away because Lord knows where it is at.!!** But with two German Shepards and a ADT Alarm System and I usually have something on me or close by ~~ it would be rather stupid to just drop in if I was here or not.!** I will try to make a list next week so that you all can help me find what I want when I need it.** Gesh*

I have about 50 or 60 knives. None are terribly expensive. Only one cost me more than $100 and that's a Spyderco sprint run. Most were under $50. The majority of these are Case traditional folding knives, though I do have a few modern style folders as well, mainly Kershaw, Boker, and Spyderco.

I keep about 15 or so in a desk drawer, that I rotate through carry for variety or just fun, or take out for specific cutting purposes. I have several pieces of soft cloth (actually gauze pads called "lap sponges") that I use as layers between the knives so that they don't rattle around or bump into each other. The most often carried ones sit on top of the top layer.

Knives that are not users are stored in their original boxes (if they came with boxes) in some organizers originally intended to store magazines on a shelf. I don't have a knife display case.

Bought an old desk for $5. All of my knives fit in the drawers either laid out or standing upright in homemade sleeves.
The middle keeps all of my edc favs.

I like the desk because it also gives me a place to sit down and do all of my maintenance / sharpening / tinkering.

Not an invasive question at all.
I have 90% of the original boxes. Most of the blades that are not in edc rotation are in gun safe. Rotation blades (6-7) are kept in sock drawer.

If I were a thief, I would like to know who stores their items in a safe vs a shoe box in their hall closet.

If you where a thief it would not matter if they where stored in a safe vs shoe box in the hall closet. A thief would find a way to get to them or if he/she could not then other things around the house would go missing. Yes you guys in tin foil hats are correct there is a small chance someone could fish for info about your valuables this way but there is also a chance someone could be fishing for info about murdering you and your family by going threw your trash or sitting outside your home or job. Do you burn all your trash and take different routes to work everyday living in fear? I mean theres a chance this could happen same as there is a chance some guy could use the internet to get info about your knife collection a collection most of you advertise to the world anyway. I hear tin foil is on sale this week at most major retailers.

Oh btw i keep my knives in the top drawer of my dresser on a nice micro fiber towel. I don't save boxes since every knife i own is used hard and will be with me till it breaks, or wears out.
