Don't think I have more than 10, even though I've purchased closer to 40 in the last few years. I'm one of those guys who will buy a new one, feel guilty about spending the money, then sell an old one to feel better :p

I'm also split fairly evenly between customs and productions.
 
Ok I had not really sat down and thought about what I actually had as I usually open them up, check them out and put them in the safe until I decide to do whatever with them.
Current count is at 37 which seems like a lot to me but not nearly what some here have.
two are custom knives from local makers with my favorite of the two being a damascus folder with mammoth tooth handle.
 
Man I guess my idea of "too many" is not enough!

I posted this because my wife yelled at me the other day about it..

BUT I do not own a knife that costs less than $1,000 - and I have about 15 currently as I just sold off a few to calm the storm..
 
Yeah, 30 is on the low end of a good start. I'm probably around 100 or so, about half mid tech/half production, and a few custom. I find myself focusing on quality more lately, so most of my new knife purchases are for mid tech. I'm in my mid 30's, so its hard to say what another 30 or 40 years will do to the collection!
 
I have 42 right now, most of which are production but one is handmade and 6 are custom. I have 4 more custom, 2 production and another handmade [Edit: can't wait to get this one!] on order right now. I think that I'm at the point where the majority of future buys will be custom with a smattering of production knives that I find enticing.

I would love to find a way to display some of them, but I live in a (way too) small mountain cabin and really don't have room for a display case. :(

Had about 18-20 production knives but recently traded all but 6.Kept my EDC mini griptilian and EDC BM 940 Osborne. Also kept my Spyderco Dragonfly in green G-10/VG-10 and my original Calypso Junior in linen micarta/AUS 8. And Spyderco Citadel Black/black S30V. Kept my BM mini grip Wilkins/Ritter Combo in "swimming pool" green.

My customs now include:
Mike Alsdorf barehead jack in brown micarta/CPM154
Gene Ingram Fixed Sodbuster in tan linen/D2
Jared Oseser Eureka Jack in Thunderstorm Kevlar micarta/CPM154
 
I'm not sure... mostly customs. I definitely have the largest "collection" of THK's around :p
 
over 30 is too damn many? Im in around 200 mostly production ..I think you should change the poll options
