How Many INFI WTF's?

WTF seems more of a Paul Bunyan Toothpick. ;)

You guys don't really think that they just make a certain amount of these knives and that's it do you? They make however many knives that are ordered in the allotted time frame, and sometimes beyond that time frame.;)

No, seroiusly. . . you are incorrect sir. . .

You'll note that the allotted time frame varies from model to model because of the pre-determined number of knife blanks.

Otherwise we would just run all of our offers through to the following Wednesday at 5:00pm.

My guess is now that they (Busse) ran off approximately 11,337 Blanks-I could be wrong by 11,000 or so, Due I get a shop credit Mr. Busse?

Thank You Sir. I have had a long drinking binge this weekend, it just sounded like a good business model to me. I am still drinking...:D

My strong feeling is that your guys guesses of hundreds or thousands is way off... It seems to me that Jerry likes his blades to be specail, hold their value, an be rare, as a benefit to the owner above all.. think about it.. most the people need to watch the forum just to know when something is available..then its gone in a flash.. this is totally a GUESS but I'm betting that with the WTF being a satin, custom shop offering... it was a small # of blanks made.. keeping it "custom shop" rare... my guess would be 50 or less...

Ok let's just take the 11,000 qty guess for example.
I know there are some things that you can depend on a cnc to do an some you can not.. Busse's fit an finish is A++ on there blades. You don't see a lot of complaints of them dropping the ball on qc. A cnc machine can not apply a perfect satin polish an self check it's own work, or sharpen a blade perfectly an test it on a swine shaving, sharpness, sheet. It can't apply the dye an test for micro fractures... this stuff is done by hand.. otherwise they would have constant qc issues that plague mass production lines.. considering the cnc work, fit an finish, heat treat, qc, sharpening..that "each" WTF would require AT LEAST 4 hours of work to produce. An I bet it's much more. Anyway.. 4x11000 = 44,000hours needed to complete the WTF blades at a Busse A++ quality level. That means if Busse had 10 guys working 8 hours a day 5 days a week on wtf's ONLY!! The WTF'S would be complete in 110 WEEKS not 12 to 18 weeks.. an honestly, I think for the quality level Busse is known for...much more time an attention goes into each blade that my example.. no, the WTF blades were a small, very specail semi custom production run...imho

Ya I know your joking..just like the 5 to 45000 guess... its just a fun math exercise.. Its interesting seeing what manpower it would require. No one really thinks it's that high... but after looking at number guesses...I doubt it's over 100...

Man, I sure wish I could see some of their production in action... with operation 2 weeks...I bet that shop is a zoo!!

I kinda hope your right

Makes perfect sense and how it I've thought it was for years. You can only cut so many blanks out of so many sheets of INFI that are the same thickness. Once your INFI sheets are all cut up you have no more blanks that thickness to offer for a while until you obtain more sheets. Then you still have the prep for heat treat, heat treat (in batches I presume from silhouettes of other blanks I have found on a few strippers ;) ) , coat/finish, sharpen & handles all taking up plenty of time to process each blank. It is impressive the turnaround is as fast as it is on some of these offerings. Keep up the great work Jerry & crew!
