Last night I drove up to my buck pen after work and needed to fix this hay feeder I had rigged up out of some stock panels
but had forgot to bring a knife

. Luckily my wife got the PSK out of the truck and I was able to cut the rope and fix the feeder.
NEVER ADMIT THAT HD! You may get a temporary ban from the forums
Actually, my wife chews me out if I don't have a knife on me...that helps me to remember as well

Do you guys keep a cheap blade in the vehicle, or a busse, or something along those lines? I have issues with keeping some of my more expensive fixed blades out in the truck.
Really depends on the situation, but most often I do have a 12" Ontario machete, Mora and SAK. Nothing too expensive and as Fiddleback can attest, it's a hard balance of leaving a decent kit in you vehicle with the risk of theft...you want something you can rely on, but you can't get too attached if it's stolen.
Oops, forgot the actual post
I do have a few different kits (both my kids also have a small kit, more for dayhikes, but will work for short term emergencies as well; and my wife has a both a pack for weekend backpacking and an Osprey 35 for our day hikes nad rock climbing).
Deployment Ruck (Large HSGI Modified ALICE)
Backpacking pack (Arc'Teryx Tango or Kifaru EMR)
Day hiking/rock climbing bag (Osprey Kestral 38)
Hunting (for single-day hunting only - Camelback Ambush or Kifaru Scout)
Tuck Get-Home-Bag (Kifaru Scout or old USGI medium ALICE)
All have my "essentials" and then specific gear for the activity. I may switch a stove around or add a few extra clothes, but other than that, they are ready to go. I do have a few tuff-boxes with camping gear, backpacking food, medical supplies, etc. I'm not where I want to be with organization yet, but for the grab-and-go for a deployment, SHTF or quick weekend get-away camping trip, we're pretty set.
