MikeS- it's nice to see someone else in the trade that doesn't think they're a welder! LOL!

I used to do wood carving with a Foredom in exotic woods without a mask. Dumb. Now I wear high quality dust mask, goggles, face mask over the goggles, and ear protection.

The mask I mentioned in my reply...the dust-be-gone was designed by a wood-turner that got tired of her mask fogging up her glasses.

My safety glasses don't fog up with the mask on, another reason I actually wear it.

There is a web-site, but at the moment I can't remember the address. The mask is about $35, but at the price of a new pair of lungs and sinuses, that's pretty cheap!

Vaquero57,
I wear a double cannister mask, just like Mr. Carson has on in the photo in this thread. Just make sure you get one with a good fitting silicon nose piece and an exhalation valve. I have minimal problems with my mask fogging my prescription glasses....

Jailhack,
Nah, that was the pillow I sometimes put down in the front of the overalls so when I fall asleep, grinding blades, I don't damage the real toolrest.

My son in law told me today that he is gonna start drinking more beer so he can have a organic tool rest just like mine.

Kit, you can cut a slit in the respirator (if you have a sharp knife around, if you dont ill send you one) just big enough for the cigarette and light up and just normally breath!

Just kidding of course!

Dex,
That was Rule #5. Never drink while in the shop. Drink before going to the shop and make tactical knives or drink at night, after the shop is closed and wake up with a hangover and make art knives

57 i have the3m 7ooo i think two triangle filters, i wear safety rated glasses and if you are getting all fogged up it mean the mask is not sealing on you face. i scuba dive and its tough to find a mask with the right amount of seal. i had a double charged case in a colt .45 blast the grips into splinters, send the mag into the ground so hard the spring and follower flew out and brass scrapnel inbedded in the right lens of my shooting glasses. i had a flinch after that for a good two months after that. saftie glasses are my second thing after the mask before i turn on anything.
