How many knives do you EDC?

Two Spydercos in my side pockets, either a BK-14, Esee-3, or Gryphon M-10 boot knife on my belt; always a BK-15 and maybe a 16 or 17, along with a Mora HD Companion in my EDC pack, for eating and because bushcraft opportunities seem to happen when I least expect them. Oh yeah, and an Ontario Rat-1 in my pack as a backup folder. If I know I'll be rolling through wilderness areas in my travels, I'll replace one of the Tweeners with a full-sized Becker.

Holy crap, I carry a lot of knives. Why? Because I can.:D

My every day carry consists of 2 knives always carry my inexpensive crkt drifter and usually carry a crkt Scarab or a browning tanto blade combo edge larger folder, Known as my little buddy and my big buddy. Started carrying like that many years ago tend to use my little buddy the most but having a larger knife comes in handy a lot.

I carry three essentially. My Spyderco Endura is my main cutter and stays clipped on my pocket. In the same pocket I keep my BK14. I like it if I need something quite a bit more sturdy. Just like having a fixed blade on me in general. The slim profile of the sheath makes it nearly unnoticeable to me.

The third one I don't really think of as my "third" knife so much as I do as a multi-tool. SAK Victorinox Pioneer. I keep it in my back pocket less for the knife and more for the handy tools it comes with.

I usually only carry one. I do usually carry 2 when I walk my dog at night. I walk about 3-4 miles and usually have one fixed blade in a belt sheath, like a Street Beat this morning, along with a folder in my pocket. I do have a habit of sleeping with one knife in my hand. Last night was a Gerber command 2 that I've had forever.

A Mel Pardue benchmade in my pocket and sometimes an Ontario Afghan in a leather sheath when it won't freak out those around me.

How Many - I carry either 3 or 4 everyday.

What I carry - My EDC (literally) folders are a Buck 482, RFP and a Buck 484, LFP. I have 1 or 2 fixed blades with me every day. On a 1 fixed day, when I am going to town, it's a Kabar 1232, RH carry. On the farm or out hiking/camping/hunting, the fixed blades jump to 2 on me, plus other cutting tools in a pack or the truck. These fixed blades are one of my Kabar 1219C2 variants on the right and a Becker 2/7/9 on the left. The knives vary depending on what I'm doing that day and the weather conditions.

Why I carry that many - I always have a minimum of 2 knives, one one the left side and one on the right. The reason for this is that if you are carrying something in your right hand,or get your right hand/arm engaged in some restricted endeavor, and your only knife is on the right, you are screwed. Hence 1 knife for each side, minimum.

Why do I carry 2 FIXED blades on the farm? You never know when you will need one and which side you will need it on.

This goes back to my first fixed blade. My Grandfather got his left shirt sleeve caught in some machinery. He reached down with his RIGHT hand, pulled out his Kabar 1232 and cut his sleeve off before his arm was caught in the gears. He looked at me and said "That's why you carry a fixed blade. It's always ready to cut." I asked him "What if it had been your right arm caught?"

After a moment, he turned off all the machinery and we went to town and he bought a second fixed blade, a Western L46-5. When the store got some more Kabars in, he replaced the Western with a second 1232 and gave me the Western, saying that if I was smart enough to come up with that question, I was old enough to carry a fixed blade." I was probably 11 or 12 years old. I can't remember if it was when I was in 5th or 6th grade. That started my love of fixed blades in general, and Kabars and Westerns, specifically. I still have that Western in my sock drawer.

That's the reason I carry a 1232 most days - big enough to do the job, small enough to not freak out normal people and something to remember my grandfather by every time I use it. And why I carry TWO USER FIXED BLADES in the field.

I carry only one and have never felt unequiped. Either my bk14 or a folder of some sort.

I always have a boxcutter. I use it everyday, and I have multiple backups for it. It also reminds me that we are at war, and why.

Lately I have been integrating one of my folders as well. (2 is 1)

usually I have a fixed buck knife on my belt and a kershaw folder on my waistband. takes care of most tasks I encounter

I keep a large folder in my back pocket, and an Opinel No. 6 in my front pocket. BK24 in my bag.

Well, I haven't been working for the last coupla months, so I carry less, but.....we like knives. I like knives. So I carry one or three or five, because...why not? All I've got are users, but at a minimum I'll have some kind of decent folder on me; right now it's a Manix 2 but yesterday was a BM 550 Grip, the day before a Kershaw Piston...At work I always have a utility knife in my tool belt, a folder and a Leatherman Skelly in my pocket, a couple more fixed blades (my 9 and 2) in the truck....I keep trying to get used to the necker, but it's an odd piece of "jewelry" for most people and threatening in a way that a huge folder buried in my pocket is not. I might have to EDC my 9 and 16 soon though - got a new piggyback setup that should be here tomorrow - and just let 'em look. I live in the "Live Free or Die" state, so...I'm thinking I should just wear that piggyback setup on my right hip and move the tool pocket over to the left. Then my priorities will be clearly (and visually) in order. You know, I carry as many knives as I feel like, because...I like knives. And they're always useful.

Benchmade Griptilian in my pocket and either my custom or one of my little Beckers on my hip.

I typically EDC a first generation Leatherman tool plus a 24 with ESEE micarta, and the 2 in my backpack. If I'm CC'ing my G23 it stops there....but if I'm somewhere I can't CC, then I also carry a Tactical Arts 5 1/2" Kali Fighter.

Wow, that's like the greatest justification story ever. :D
I carry entirely right-side, but I can reach my folder at 5-o'clock IWB with my left hand.

Usually a PM2 in my pocket and Vic Executive on the keychain.
Several more in bags; spread throughout the car, but I don't usually carry 'em on me unless I anticipate a need for more than those two.

Two:

I always carry a fixed blade (Bark River Little Creek or BK14/24) and a SAK (lately it has been a Huntsman).

When I'm in my backyard/camping/hiking, I will typically have a BK2, BK10, or BK16 and the SAK, and possibly a Mora Companion and an Opinel #8 in the pack. Oh, and KaBar Kukri. So when I'm not in the office, I guess it's more than two.

Well, I'm short, overweight, 2 bad shoulders and compressed discs at L2, L3 and L4, so my twisting and reaching capability draws heavy vacuum. :D Although, I was already carrying that way when the only considerations were short and overweight. :D:D

Most days only one knife (folder or BK-24). When outdoors usualy a belt knife (Enzo Trapper / BK-16 / Survive GSO 4.1) a folder (SAK or opinel) and often a chopper (BK-9 / Ontario SP-51) !

benchmade griptillian and leatherman rebar on person always. victorinox camper when i'm out with the scouts. BK 16 on a 5.11 RUSH MOAB 6 or BK10 if i'm carrying a larger pack. BK9 in the truck

while reading this thread, I kept asking myself why do these folks carry so many blade's?
Then it occurred to me, I carry a few with daily too...
BK2 in the truck with a first aid kit and winter survival pack containing a mora companion.=2
A Kershaw blurr s30v in my left pocket and a little SAK (unknown type) on my key ring. =4
In my lunch bag there is a Leatherman sidekick and a Husky folding razor. =6
Also, not mentioned here a Streamlight Micorstream in the right pocket.
