I'm surprised so many doesn't seem to have any kitchen knives at all. Do you always eat out, eat ready made frozen meals or are they owned by someone else in the family?

About 50 various folders - Schrade, Buck, BM, CRKT, S&W, Case , Camillus, Frost etc.

Kitchen knives - Sabatier and Global

Fixed Blades - I only have a couple, but I have a Running Dog on order, when Michael gets his shop finished!

Lately, my father has been feeling his age and has been talking wills, plots...and knives. The last four times I visited he has gone to the safe and pulled out a briefcase, each filled with knives. He has been collecting for years and has quite the collection of Case folders. We spend the evening going through the briefcases, talking steel, scales and value. We do not see eye to eye on many things, but we do share an appreciation of a well made beautiful tool.

I have no idea how many knives he has, but there were some very interesting knives, including - a Buck fixed blade that is reported to have been made by Al Buck (red plexiglas handle), my great uncle knew Buck and passed it down - a huge Case folder from the 30's, used by a gentleman named Albright, an adventurer/taxidermist, whose work can be seen in the Chicago Natural History Museum - fifteen different locking systems - some of the first Al Mar knives, most bought in Japan - Thirty-five to forty custom fixed blades and folders...and so much more...

The knives were great, but the experience was better.

I have no idea really. I stopped counting years ago. And it's not that I have a HUGE collection, it's just that I have more than I want to take the time to count. For instance, I have more SAKs and multitools than I can keep track of because I have them stashed hither and yon. But one thing's for sure, I don't have all the knives I want.
