how many knives do you own?

A couple of dozen, including various axes, roughly half fixed, half folders. And, yeah, the number seems to be going up since I found BladeForums. Funny how that works.

six folders

seventeen fixed blades

seven swords

one battleaxe

one tomahawk

two mulitools

I'm with stjames....the less the wife knows, the better.

As it stands, SHE has 3 folders and 1 fixed blade.

I just have "some" knives.

PhilL,

Before the current Pete's Custom Shop was open, there was the original Buck Custom Shop. It opened in 1981 and shut down in 1993. They made more fixed blades than folders. Bucks most talented employees worked in the shop and put out about 5000 knives while open.

You were right on the money on my handle. And thanks for the good word on a focused collection.

John,
After I posted here I went back awhile at the Buck Forum, to do a little research. I only found out about knife collecting less than 2 years ago, sounds like I missed out on a lot of good stuff. Oh well, I guess another case of, "A day late and a dollar short!" Maybe it's better to look at it as, "Better late than never." Thanks for the info.

PhilL,

It's never too late. There are always some great knives out there. You should visit the Buck Knives website too. They have excerpts from "The Buck Knife Story" that will give you a lot of background info on Buck. You should also consider joining the Buck Collectors Club. The quarterly newsletters contain a lot of info.

A dozen or so, but mostly Case & others that I use for carving. Fixed blades are only a couple of military knives & bayonnets. I would like to find a quality fixed blade, but I would probably only buy one so It's hard to choose...

I'm searching for the perfect knife. Since there are so many dimensions you only have to change your focus

Talking about knives is the funniest part of knife collection (as for me), except cutting own fingers, of course

My collection is not so large as many of yours, guys, but never the less:

FIXED BLADES: none (I'm a "folder-man"
smile.gif

FOLDERS:
Spyderco "CalypsoJr."
Buck "CrossLock DoubleBlade"
Some spear pointed and liner locked thing made by somebody named WHITBY&Co. (I've got it at the very beginning of collecting)
Coast "LiteKnife" C50S (I coll it "semiknife"
smile.gif

2 Victorynox SAKs: "Climer" (no red but blue one - the gift version from business partner) and "Camper"
Victorynox "Skipper"
3 Victorynox "Classics" (no one is red - the gift versions from business partners, are they REAL knives, I'm not sure)

MULTITOOLS:
"BuckTool" and Leatherman "Wave" (I'm crazy on multitools
smile.gif
, right now I've read at www.equiped.org about Gerber "GatorJaw" and was shocked by it's features and price. It seems me that "GatorJaw" overjumps as "Wave" as Victorynox "SwissTool". BTW: are the multitools REAL knives ? - no bad topic for discussion, isn't it ?
wink.gif

PRESENTED BY ME AS THE GIFTS:
2 Victorynox "Classics" (these are red - one for Dad, another - for Mum)
Victorynox SAK "Climer" (red one - for Dad)
Gerber "EasyOut" - for friend of mine
Multitools: Wenger "SwissGrip" and Shrade "ToughTool" - for Dad

LOST:
Spyderco "Dragonfly" (good-bye, my little one ...
