How many knives does a person really need?

really you need only 3 knifes 2 in the kitchen one in the pocket.

me ? currently I need 21 knife (22 next wensday) and most likely 23 in couple weeks

bottom line: I think many people in this forum need us many knifes as they can afford

A lot of folks that are not knifeknuts, often get by with one or two knives. My Grandfather used a small trapper (or was it a stockman?) for just about everything for 50 years before retiring it in favor of a SAK, owing to it's blades being nearly sharpened away.
If I had to, I quess I could get by with just my Spderco Moran drop point, a multitool (Wave or Swisstool), and perhaps a folder (probably my Spderco Calypso Jr. LW); but hey, what fun would that be, when there are so many other interesting knives to own?

It would seem I need over 100 knives ,because everytime I fall below that number I slowly build back over it.
