How many knives have you given away to friends as gifts, etc?

I think it's great to donate to military and to family members and/or close friends. Everyone should have a pocketknife, including the ladies.

Even though my wife is not a fan of my collecting knives she never seems to mind when I put a new little knife on one her key chains. Her favorite is the old Seki City Firefly she's had forever. She once carried it into family court by mistake and they tried to take it away from her (bad idea). she walked all the way back to the car to to put it away.

Gave my brother a very nice Bark River Northstar that I won here on the forums. Just because I had won it didn't make it easy. That was a knife that I really, really liked. I don't have anything else like it, but my brother was moving away, and I felt that the occasion called for something special. You should have seen his face! Yes, I think it was worth it.

Hey! Was it in curly maple with red liners? I'm pretty sure you won that from me! Good on ya for paying it forward.

I gave my brother his first knife, a spyderco dragonfly (which he used a LOT). and I gave my friend a kershaw nerve that I customized myself, but I really don't think he appreciates as much as I would have if I was in his shoes. I'm going to customize a production knife for my lady friend when her B-day rolls around in December as well, just not sure which one yet

I gave a Spyderco UKPK to my roomate in Korea, because he let me stay at his place at minimal cost to me, just so I could get out of the terrible dorms on base. As a 30 year old, having been in the military for 8 years, and then going from having my own house stateside, to living in a 5'x8' room with lead in the water and no A/C or hot water was pretty depressing, especially when we were the only unit on base with those terrible dorms (psychological, but in something like a deployed environment, where living conditions are terrible for everyone, it didn't bother me at all). I didn't make the cutoff to move off base, but he did. He opened up his nice house off base to me, and that is something I won't forget. Kinda wish I had given him an even nicer knife, but he didn't want anything expensive because then he wouldn't use it.

Other than that I have never given a knife away, as nobody I know would really appreciate it. Thought about giving some Byrd Terns to my troops here in the UK so they can have some legal EDCs though...

Ive gifted a few knives, but this is my favorite: bought a pink Spydie Native to give to a lady who survived it, barely. She still carries it, I just sharpened it last week. Best whatever $ I spent on it. I tied a lanyard with a Spydie bead to give her at the one year mark, I was thinking of adding a bead each year for her. Just mine and her thing, but it means a bunch to both of us.

Since I love knives so much I give them away every now and then. I started at my wedding which was a few years before I got really into knives or found the forum.

Groomsmen got a Kershaw Leek,
My dad and father inlaw got Kershaw Blurs.
For christmas to my brother and brother in law I gave, each a Kershaw Zing, a Ram, a leek after he lost the wedding one, another leek after he lost that one.
Gave a work buddy a leek a few weeks ago.

12 knives given away so far, and Im getting close to a thousand posts...

Quite a few.
