How many knives have you wasted money on or regretted buying?

Gerber mini paraframe. Kept one in each glove box for years. They have since been replaced by Cold Steel Mini Lawmen.

A cheap knife in France that I thought was a French made Lagouille but turned out to be a cheap Chinese knife. It serves its purpose, but I would have paid more to have a genuine made in France version.

CRKT M16-12Z--I used it a beat the living heck out of it, but its a POS whose edge rolls and chips like no other.
Spyderco Shempp Rock--Cool knife, bought it off the exchange, haven't had a chance to use it yet. Sits in the glove box of my car in case someone tries to jack me.
Benchmade 530--I just wish I'd bought the plain edge and not the combo. Oh well, I still use it.
KA-BAR US Army 9/11 Commemorative--It sits, unused. Hasn't even cut wind. Like new, no box, sheath is slightly scratched. Gonna sell it eventually.
Bear and Son Damascus fighting knife--Another "safe queen." Beautiful but completely impractical. Never cut anything. Was a gift, so not gonna sell it.
Cold Steel Recon 1. Great knife, I've beat on it and it still works great, I just wish I A) Hadn't paid full retail for it B)Bought the plain edge and not the combo. Too scratched up to sell.

Probably about 75% of them. Not that there's anything wrong with any of them or that they are bad values for the money. I just have way more than I have any use for. The acquisitions were part of the learning process about what I do and don't need, like, or want. So it may have been necessary. I in retrospect I wish I had a very small group of users and that's all.

CRKT Ichi a few years ago. Way too small and I think they called the opening mechanism OptiFast because it would open if you looked at it funny.

Marbles lockback. Looked nice, but will not stay locked. Still in the drawer and unused.

I've wasted money on buying knives online that I've returned. I end up paying for return shipping. Doesn't happen often, but it's tough to see everything in-person.

Same here, an expensive learning curve... If there is one brand I can single out it would be Boker, in my experience their designs look great in the catalog but are not usually executed that well. YMMV I also went through a phase where I bought a lot of Enlan and SanRenMu knives, while most of them are fine I just didn't use them all that much and still have several just taking up space in my collection.

None, since being on BF as I've been able to buy, trade or giveaway the knives that I had for a spell, but couldn't use or want all as part of the learning experience. Didn't take all but a summer to realize what I like and don't like about most knives and to learn about a whole bunch of different styles outside of the thumb stud one handed openers that got me into knives in the first place.

New member, was just checking out the different forums, and liked this topic. Not really regret, but most all of my fixed blade knives are completely unused/waste of money. I do switch folders in and out, but carry a Klotzli CHW-1 (?) most every day. I have three, and will buy any of them I run across, pursuant to available finances. I have four sons, so many of my purchases that didn't fit me have found new homes where they were more appreciated.

That's a sweet knife that you don't see too often around here!

"How many knives have you wasted money on or regretted buying?"

Two totally different things for me. The answer to the first part of the question is all of them. I really didn't need any of them and could have used just about anything for a hunting and fishing blade. I just like toys. :)

The answer to the second part of the question is none of them. While I've purchase some crappy knives over the years, I still enjoyed them and learned something from them.

A couple crkts, a Smith and Wesson, Kershaw leek, and the Kershaw clash (crash?). The crkts and Smith and Wesson fell apart, the leek had too fine of a tip, and the clrash was a combo edge. I liked it besides that. Started lurking this forum and now I feel like my taste in knives has been refined.

I was going through a khukuri phase and bought the Ka-Bar "kukri" as well as a handmade one from Nepal. I didn't really regret either of them until I came to the Himalayan Imports section here on Bladeforums where Yangdu's blades are so much further ahead in terms of quality and craftsmanship that it makes me sad having not known about them earlier.

None, that is like asking what kid I regret having. I love them all. Even the cheap junk ones have their own unique qualities.

My SOG Aegis, and Trident, neither had a real tight lockup, and both sported very cheesy/cheap feeling handles, coming from a person who is fond of Spyderco's FRN. Also, I didn't feel too enthused about the edge retention. Way overpriced IMHO.

CRKT m16-10z I believe it's called off hand. Right after I lost the receipt and threw away the box the blade starting getting stuck in the opened position if you flick it open even with the lightest of force which would require a screwdriver or coin to pop the liner lock loose so you can close it. The only knife purchase I really regret, and that includes the 2 extremely cheap winchester knives I bought for $5, I knew what I was getting into when I bought those and one doesn't lock up, and the one that did will collapse with preasure from your thumb. But I have a nice tin case from that purchase.
