How many knives have you wasted money on or regretted buying?

I was quite disappointed with a new Schrade Sharpfinger. That went into the kitchen knife drawer. And I have never really found much use for my tiny Buck 102. They didn't cost much so no real regret. Not long after the 102 I grabbed a 105 which I still enjoy.

I can't say I have ever really regretted buying a knife, even the 10$ POS that broke and left me with one of many scars on my hands got plenty of use before that happened, and I learned a valuable knife safety lesson.

Spend $5 on a machete once, that was a waste.

The worst case I ever heard of was a buddy of mine who made a terrible $360 purchase. HTM forum knife.

Bear & Sons Damascus Sideliner; it was an expensive piece of junk. Bought it when I was starting out in this hobby and didn't know any better. I could have made a better knife from a kit.

None that I couldn't sell and move along to make room for another possible keeper.

I've never really REGRETTED buying a knife, but I have bought many that just didn't feel right in my hand or was awkward to open. Most I have kept and just don't carry as much.

There IS this one Spyderco that comes close though..... My Bob Terzuola slipit. I have no idea why, but that knife demands a blood offering every time I carry it. I'm pretty experienced with one handed folders. I've carried one almost every day of my life for decades. But I've been cut by that knife more than any 50 of my other knives. After a bad cut a couple of years ago I put it back into the SpyderPac and swore I'd never carry it again. It just sits there now and gets passed over in the rotation.

I have bought a few that just didn't really do it for me. They were still nice knives just not for me and those make excellent Christmas and birthday presents. :)

I must say most of the knives I bought, I would never buy again. A lot of the knives I bought have been lost, broken, gifted, sold or thrown away. Today, I regret some (a few) of them. I keep buying knives because handling the right knife is a definite thrill. I also keep selling all those who can't make it into EDC rotation. We don't match and I must face it.

Bought a strider SMF and wish I hadn't. While it is an absolute tank, it's not pocket friendly, the pocket clip sucks and it's definitely not an edc knife. More of a chopper or pry bar.

Before the strider fanboys get all butt hurt and flame me, just realize, the post asked if you regret buying a knife and wasting money on it. I regret buying this knife because it's not useful for me. Nothing to do with the quality.

Probably about 75% of them. Not that there's anything wrong with any of them or that they are bad values for the money. I just have way more than I have any use for. The acquisitions were part of the learning process about what I do and don't need, like, or want. So it may have been necessary. I in retrospect I wish I had a very small group of users and that's all.

this for me also^

How many knives have you wasted money on or regretted buying?

My wife would say that I have wasted money on dozens of knives or probably 90% of them. I do enjoy impulse buying (especially knives) and I suspect I have wasted money on about 50% of my knives and have regretted buying about 25%. But, I don't worry about it and may well have bought most of them again if placed in the same situation. With knives, most are purchased to use.

Regret? Only a couple. I do a lot of research before buying so I know it's something I want.

this. I may spend 2-3 weeks researching a knife on the web once I think I want one. After those 2 weeks if I still want it, then won't be any regrets. Tho I do only have 5 folders to speak of, so I love them all!

Ive bought some knives that the second i took them out of the box i knew i didnt like it.

actually the knives I regret buying the most were some of the best knives I have ever owned. They were customs from Terry Guinn and Shawn Greacen. After owning knives of that caliber its hard to adjust to production knives again. That and the prices meant you could only own a couple unless well to do.

Microtech Ultratech Zombie Tech. Regretted it as soon as I felt how dull it was out of box, and how stiff the switch was. Never wore in, so I didn't bother to sharpen it.

It was a waste of money.

Condor Rodan and CS Pocket Bushman. Just don't like the balance of the Rodan and I just cannot get it as sharp as I know it could be. The pocket Bushman is just not practical in my opinion and the handle is hard on your hand if used for hard tasks or extended period of time. Have some others that just don't get much use but no real regrets about their purchase.

I regret buying ALL strider knives, Thankfully I got rid of every single one of them, I also regret getting the spyderco native 5 in s110v, not because it's low quality , it's the opposite reason, I only have one, So I refuse to take it out of the box , or use it...Now if I had 2 of them I would be GTG
