For my office job I think, two knives is maximum, more is only regret to left some knife at home alone.

I carry two Spydercos. Both "stainless". I carry an Endura II (with "full-serrated" blade), and a Native II (with "1/2 serrated" blade). One on each side of my front pockets.

(I am thinking about replacing the Endura II with a Cold Steel Stainless Tanto, 'tho, if I can find one.).

Personally I carry three knives; a Buck Strider, a Leatherman tool and a small no name pocket knife. These seem to do all the things I need a knife to do.

I carry 3 knives to work(plus a few little ones). But I work at a Mastercare Firestone, so I can get away with it I suppose. 2 seems like enough, but I'm use to my 3. My pockets don't feel "right" without them.

Reasonable? I don't know if it is reasonable, but I can get away with carrying a fixed blade, two locking folders, a mini-auto, a SAK and SAK money clip, and a multi-tool.

Two here...Well used Spyderco Endura II plain edge and a BM Nimravus..Sometimes Nealy Pesh-kabz/Endura II

Reasonable? Yeesh, I don't know. I try not to be obvious about how many I carry, but usually have: Victorinox Mini-Champ, Spyderco Dragonfly, Spyderco Calypso, Jr., and Spyderco Native.

Gosh, I hope I'm reasonable ;-)

In this day and age one can never have enough knives on there person.I carry 1 main blade then I have one to back that up then I have one to back the back up up etc. By the time I leave the house I have my entire collection on me and I'm being wheeled around on a two wheel dolly. I have so many knives on me I can't move due to the weight factor. I tell you just deciding what to carry daily is a job in itself.

Well, I work in a warehouse and always carry two knives, with a couple in the car too. I carry a Running Dog Wharncliff on my belt in a cross-draw, and a customized BM Mini AFCK in my pocket. At least no one at work has to ask if I "have a knife?"

Carry enough that you can use the right knife for the right job. For me thats 2. I normally carry a gerber multi lock and a spyderco delica. I use the hell out of both of them, but they pretty much handle my daily tasks without to much wear and tear. On occasion I'll add a 4" trapper pattern slip joint to the other 2. Depending on the type of people I'll be around, or if I think I'll need to loan someone a knife. I try not to loan out the delica unless I know the person who wants it can handle it. I keep it hairsplitting sharp, so its not real safe when people start trying to grab it with 2 hands and force it closed without pushing in the lock release. Most poeple can handle the trapper though since its a slipjoint. I keep it as sharp as possible too, but people don't seem to get into trouble with it to much.

It'll feel better when it stops hurting.

I carry a big enough variety that when someone asks if a knife is available, I have to ask what they need it for. Then I'll know which one to produce. I can usually cover just about any task with what I have on me or with what's in my vehicle.

2 is enough.

My current setup is a Running Dog little Pup in bg42 in a neck sheath, and my self-customized mini AFCK in my back pocket.

But if you have to loan a knife to someone on occasions, I guess that makes 3 knives, 1 extra knife you aren't afraid to ruin

At work I only carry my SAK, but away from work I often carry the SAK and my Schrade LB7.
If I can't do the job with those two knives, then a knife probably is'nt the right tool for the task.

I usually have about 7 on me at any one time. I usually use most of them to show potential customers how they can be carried. Some times I just start filling up my pockets and belt until I look like some of these kids who wear their pants just below the crack of their A**

I carry 3 usually, 4 sometimes. A SOCOM Elite as a primary, a D/A SOCOM as a back up and sometimes a mini SOCOM, and always a Spyderco Ladybug on the keychain. Was almost caught in a situation where I didn't have a backup that I really really was glad to have.

That again?

There has been a zillion threads about this subject.

Some of them even have images of Spark's pocket contents (be careful - the image may take some time to load...)

Me?

One Dozier neck knife.

Any one of a few folders IWB (lg. dec. sebenza, spydie starmate, spydie shabaria Benchmade Emerson etc.)

One small folder in my motorcycle jacket (I have at least 8 jackets and I DON'T move them from pocket to pocket - they each have their own..

Super tool in bag, ladybug and Micra on key chain.

Almost forgot: a small SAK - best nail-job in the business...

Is that enough? I keep thinking of the perfect fixed blade to add to the list

On top of that:

Para Ordnance P-14 on person with one extra magazine in bag.
One Scorpio streamlight in bag.
One lansky pocket sharpener in bag.
One Coghlans fire starter in bag.
One Yo- Yo ("it's only a toy - not a weapon, officer...")

Cell phone, palm pilot etc. etc. etc.

Our slogan: we travel light....

James, Great answer!

Lets see...

Regular dress slacks- one per pocket+SAK = 5
Jeans- one per pocket+SAK = 6
Overalls-one per pocket, One clipped in "watch fob" hole, Pukko on side button
+ SAK = 9
One pocket shirt - one knife
Two pocket shirt - two knives

It's too hot to wear a Jacket this time of year.

I hate to stop and sharpen a knife in the middle of a job

BTW... I do not consider a pocket/belt tool a knife. It is like calling a bicycle with a motor attached a "Motorcycle". Technically correct but not the same performance or feel.

I have a "candy bowl" by the door. It is full of folding knives. I just grab the appropriate number on the way out.

Cheers,

ts
