Excellent philosophy! So far, my philosophy has been "more than I need and not as many as I want!"

1 semi-custom fixed blade
9 production folders

I'm going to say 50, I think that's pretty close. Knives for me since 9-11-01 have been hard to come by, I've been a little light on disposable income. In 2002 I only acquired three knives, and one was a kit that I made myself. I ended up 2002 by giving away a half a dozen Kershaw Chives to the guys I work with for Christmas. So I gave away twice as many knives as I got.

I don't think it's about the number of knives you have as much as how much you enjoy tthe knives you have, or looking forward to the next knife you get..

Oh, here's the kit knife I made, from Kitknives.com, one of Darrel Ralph's GX6.

Well, since I haven't done an accurate count for a while and I can't count right now since most of my collection is about 9,000 miles away from where I'm sitting, I think I'm somewhere between 40 and 50 right now. I know that I have 14 here with me, and then I have a bunch of quality and sort of junk knives at home, along with a few khukuris, tomahawks, and throwing knives, plus my machete, so yeah, somewhere between 40 and 50. That might become 51 soon though, I've been getting the itch to buy a new one real bad lately :D

Maybe 20 total. Only about 12 - 15 are really quality knives though.

Lost count long ago. Lots of oldies, Case, Remington, and others, including a bunch of old Kutmaster salesman samples, a few nice old pearl handle knives, some old Weidmannsheil stag handle knives. A bunch of tacticals and new stuff, Speedtech Synergy, Microtech Lightfoot, Farid, Reeves, Benchmade, Spyderco, on and on. Lots of Bulldogs, a bunch of newer Case knives, including a full set of standard Case Classic x340s, with a one of the abalone handled ones thrown in. Some straight knives, Randall, Martin, Marbles, etc., a few Nordic made blades. Total at least 200+
