How many non-HI khukuris do you have?

I know that it's heresy, but I kinda want to try one of the Ka-Bar khukuri like objects. It's 1095 steel, and a Ka-bar, how bad could it be? Anybody have one?

Steve,

Tactical Knives Magazine did a review on that Ka-Bar kukri(sic)in the last issue. Said it was alright. Ka-Bar does a nice job on their other stuff so should be worth the price I guess. 1095 is easy to work with. Does rust real well too! If you get one let us know what you think.

I've got two non-HI khuks ~ one a 15" from the 50's I bought from JP ( awesome feeling curved aluminum handle, blade is pretty soft though. I think maybe it had been sharpened up into the unhardened portion sometime in a past life). The other is a 15" Chainpuri with a rosewood handle and sheath I bought from world knives. It is actually a real nice knife ~ came with a razor sharp full convex edge which it has held well. Handle is way too thin for me but fits my 12 year old pretty well. Karda and chakma are miniscule and worthless. I think they are made out of scrap sheet metal or something! These two keep my 4 HI's company.

Adios, stevo

No non-HI K's for me. Lost track of how many HI's I have. BUT I know I DON'T have an M43!!

Funny this should come up - just got 2 in the mail today!

I got 'em as food, though...

(wishing I had that "evil grin" from the other forum...)

more on this later...

I have about four or five non-HI khukuris. Gurkhas used to be part of the landscape where I am living right now.

The Gurkhas were part of the British army who were in Malaya for many years. In fact, there is still a Gurkha community near where I live. So it is not strange to find khukuris now and then at flea markets or antique shops.

I've got the Kabar and it is a lot more to my liking than the cold steel.
also a standard Kuk on the way from Valiant and several from Nepalese Khukuri House.
