How many of the Combat Extraction Unit 17 (EU17) knives are out there?

I managed to get a EU17 the other day ('regular' version, not magnum etc). Numbered in the 20's. Asked Jerry Busse today how many were made and he did not know himself?!

Anybody in the know...and is this a 'rarer' thus more desirable Busse? I bought it simply because I like the looks and it was in mint condition. Also if somebody knows more about this knife, like which spec ops people it might have been made for....Thanks.

They are definitely rare, but don't seem to be super desirable. I would love to have a Mini EU17.

I'm just bummed that my buddy sent his to Arizona Custom right after he got it without giving me a chance to come over and check it out. :(

I really like the EU line. I feel they have some of the best Busse handles. Congrats on a great score!

Loved the EU's

Yep, she's a beauty.

haven't held any thing with an eu handle but it looks like a good handle. hope one day to get my hands on a eu mojo.

Did some researching yesterday and found a post that provided some back ground info on the EU17:

The mil-overrun “Extraction Unit 17” series was introduced in 2004. The standard EU17 was first in the series (7” blade, 37 released). Next came the EU17 Magnum (9.5” blade, 28 released). The third and final knife in the series is the EU17 Mini (6” blade, ?? released). I've never seen anything definitive about the number of Mini's released, but I don't believe the number is large.

According to J. Busse the exact total number is unknown (strange but true). With only about 30 of each variant in existence I would not let this knife go for less than $1000 (IF I was going to sell it, which I will not). It just does not get much rarer for a Busse knife than this (for a non custom shop factory run). This is a 'sleeper' highly collectable knife if there ever has been one.

When these were sold, Jerry also allowed purchasers to specify the blade number, if available. Thus I was able to accumulate the entire set of #9's. Of these, the Mini is my favorite.

9,19, 29? Very cool. The highest number I have seen posted anywhere was in the 50's.
