• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

How many of us do like serrations?

Hello,

I find serrated blades (or some nice pruning shears) are most helpful when harvesting pumpkins. The stems are quite woody when they're good and ripe.

What kind of edge did you have on the plain blade. In general, I find that plain edges will beat serrations on smaller-diamater rope every time, provided the plain edge has been sharpened for maximum performance -- low-angle bevels, and not too high-grit finish. The harder the rope, the better serrations do, the softer the rope, the easier the plain edge wins.

On the other hand, if you're talking about a plain edge direct from the Benchmade factory, it will do very badly.

As an LEO and Kayaker I love serrations. The reasons are numerous and you can probably guess them. I would like to add that I almost never sharpen them and they still work, as opposed to a "rough" sharpened non serrated blade. Glad I'm not the only one that likes'em

I can only tolerate serrations on a cheap, user knife such as a Benchmade or Spyderco, but not on a custom, or Sebenza.
