How many of you close your lockbacks one-handed?

Mid-locks like the Spyderco design I close one-handed. Like this.

Other lock backs with a longer lockbar that has the unlocking tab positioned much further back on the handle I close with two hands.

I'm kind of surprised at all the 2 handed closing people. The whole point of modern knives is to be able to open/close with 1-hand, isn't it?

I suppose it's safer to close with 2-hands, but I rather do it single hand for the practice.

The way I see it, if I want to close a knife with both hands, I'll take out my slip-joint.

I'm a 2-handed closer myself. Guess i'm kinda simple... I do like *opening* the knife with one hand - which is very convenient, but for some reason closing is always a 2-handed safety thing.

One hand with spine against rear of my thigh. Been doing it like that for 25 years.

One hand.

Thumb on lock, index finger on spine or deployment hole/stud. Unlock, then thumb the blade closed.

Two handed if I have both hands available. One handed when necessary.

All my lockbacks can be closed with one hand.

Both, but usually with one hand. If I have a new or particularly stiff model, I get an assist by dragging the spine against the back of my opposite palm, my leg, butt, armchair - whatever. My new Rajah 1 comes to mind. :)

I close them one handed. It's something that I feel is a choice and not a genetic pre-disposition. I'm not asking for any special treatment or anything, it's just the way I choose to be. After so meny years of this lifestyle, I can't see going back to two-handed closing.

Closing knives one-handed by pressing the spine on your leg can cause some problems in some circumstances. I vaguelly recall the "wounded again" thread.

Spyderco mid-locks- closed one handed. Backlocks like those found on the Buck 110- closed two handed.

If it has a choil I use that to stop the blade halfway on my finger, if not I release the lock and push the blade spine on my leg before using my fingers to finish closing.

i usually close my spydies one handed as well. since i carry them alot, i'm used to it. i got my CS Spartan and closed it one handed out of habit...well, with a big, heavy blade like that it didn't end too well for my finger...btw, its sharp right out of the box;)

Two hands - always. I keep these things insanely sharp. I've grown accustomed to having all my fingers.

Depends on the knife and what feels natural with it. The smaller the blade is, the more comfortable one-handed closing is and the more likely I am to do it.

Every knife I carry on a daily basis I can and do open and close one handed. Feels simple and natural to me.

And the most convenient, since most of the time my other hand is busy holding whatever I need to cut. :)

One-handed. Unlock, give it a flick forward, use thumb to close the rest of the way.
