How many of you do flea markets?

Flea markets, garage and yard sales, estate sales. Anything that may hold a hidden treasure!!

That one is a beauty!
Charles

Thank you Charles. I was fortunate to find it. I even tried to explain to the shop keeper that it was a special piece. When I told her " you know this is old right" she replied "the price on it is the best I can do". I tried to get her to understand twice and figured I better just buy it to save it from a terrible fate.

I love flea markets! You have to wade through a lot of junk to find some gems, but the hunt is fun:)

I have better luck at antique malls. However, with the internet, most know what they have so true deals are few and far between. I did score a Benchmade mini reflex at an antique mall in Ft. Walton for $6.99 once. Look in the booths that don't have a lot of knives.

We need knife content guys!

How about showing knives you have bought at a flea market. Otherwise this thread is going to get closed for lack of knife content.

I think the last flea market I went to was at the San Bernardino Orange Show Fair Grounds, in 1979 or 1980. They had a good size flea market every weekend (except during the Orang Show). Never bought a knife there, all I saw was mall ninja stuff, which I had no desire for, even way back then.

I guess I don't understand the heavy handed moderation on this thread. We have threads on stories about knives, travelogues of historical knife centers and others that are knife related without being picture laden. Not being disrespectful but wondering why the heavy handedness here?

Could be that we have several flea market yard sale type threads the mods do a great job and know what they are doing keeping the forum flowing well

Back on topic please. Flea markets and what traditional knives I bought or sold there. Pics would be nice too. We all like pics.

Flea markets are a good place to find older slip joints/traditionals. Personally, I don't go to flea markets, but they are very common in my area. If I did go, I would be looking for traditionals and not much else. There is too much junk to wade through.

I like big, whole town flea markets. Brownville NE has one twice a year. I've found boker, remington, schrade switchblades, even moki, all traditional patterns. One guy found out I liked knives and he was carrying around a collection in his truck cab. He had a sweet Randall made by Bo and it was a very early Scagel style knife. He also had a Doziers, most heavy used Dozier I've ever seen, true testament to his quality. I would guess he had more than a few grand in traditional knives in his cab...next to his 9mm :). I got a pretty moki for my little girl one year and the next year a Remington Guide, 1992 Camillus version.

I stop at them on occasion. But, I haven't had as much luck as others in finding the gems. I did find this one at an estate sale.

I would say I've had equal luck at estate sales over the years, the only thing is when I'm riding around on my skateboard or bike and see one I don't have any money. Lots of nice Schrades and Cases locally.
