My 2 favorite (at the moment) EDC fixed blades are double edged.

Stripped CS 3V Taipan:

And now this Busse Battle Shark, which I just ground the swedge to a zero bevel:

I only have two double edge knives left and only carry when working ... and I may be retired I haven't made up my mind yet ...

I have an older model Gerber Guardian ... and a ZT 150 ... but they may soon be sold if I do decide to stay stateside and ease into a nice normal job.

That Busse looks like a formidable blade.

I own quite a few double edged knives, 3 Cold Steel Tai Pans among them. But I don't carry them outside my home, even though California state law allows it. I've had encounters with law enforcement and know from personal experience that they lie in police reports then purjure themselves in court. The courts are no place to expect any sort of justice either. They supposedly read, write and speak english, but when it comes to interpreting the law, suddenly things that are crystal clear to anybody else, become gray and uncertain to them. So in the end it doesn't really matter what the law says, they ( police and courts) do pretty much whatever they want.

Maybe if I lived in the Mojave desert or in the Sierra mountains or foothills far from the crowded city I would feel better about open carrying a double edged fixed blade, or any fixed blade for that matter. But not while living in the wicked city, no sir.

Oh yeah . . . here's my double edge.
It helped me take out some aluminum burs today; they didn't stand a chance against this ferocious and fearsome fracas.

I carried a DE Ultratech for about a week and I kept resting my thumb on the edge facing me. I tried to regrind it after a few drinks and butchered the blade. Now it's just a "parts knife" for my other Ultratech.

I would totally rock one of Brian Nadeaus/Sharp by Design Arch Nemesis Folders. But too rich for my blood and legally a no go and I couldn't even justify one at work.

Double edge not legal in my state. Even if it was probably not my carry unless going into ugly situation. Pack pistols before that. Legal to carry pistols here!

I've carried this Pentagon clipped to my bag strap for the last 10 years.

Double bladed knives are a no no here in MI. Even if I could carry one, I wouldn't, I have no need. My S&W M&P 9c is my self defense tool. My Rat 1 in D2 or Spyderco Manix 2 (among others) is enough knife for me on a daily basis.

The only time I use a fixed blade is for camping and hiking and I'm lucky to get away for a 3 day weekend once or twice a year now.

It's been a quite few years since I routinely carried any DE blade . Still own and practice with them and consider them to be superior in a pure fighting knife .

The lack of utility and the social / legal issues , and my lack of perceived need these days keeps them off the EDC list . That can change , if I feel the need .
