How many of you have purchased the USMC SK (RPIE)?

Some of that stuff is no longer available which is kind of why I wrote about the stuff years ago. When I got on the Internet back around late 1996 or early 97, I went looking for a lot of stuff I was always interested in and didn't find much. So I made the website I never could find...in some ways. ;)
 
Have you looked recently, seems like there is always someone with a hidden stash that just "discovered" the internet. Always a chance.
 
Well, you found the RPIE with a pretty good going price so there is always hope! I'm always looking for things that I either had to sell or passed up the chance on years ago when the stuff was available. Knives, all sorts of things. Now if I could find another 1980s vintage Guardfather I'd be a happy guy I guess.
 
Lol I like the "I guess" at the end, you know it would only be temporary happiness. Then it would be something else, just talking from my own experience.
 
Well, my kit came today and was very surprised at how big this thing is. You'd have to have one hell of a big BDU pocket to swallow even one side of this thing. Since I'm probably going to pick up another I had no qualms about tearing into this one.

First, the outside packaging is kind of nifty. It has a canvas feel to it but with a foil type inside. It was very easy to tear into and I'm wondering how much of that is the material versus the age of the kit (18 years). Either way, as of right now it is still waterproof.

My kit came equipped with a silva compass (yay!:D), but what I was most looking forward to was the saw. I emptied the side with the proper barcode and found none (boo:mad:). At this point I figured that gomer had simply forgot to pack it. Well I opened the fishing kit and there it was (yay again!). With a replacement blade no less. On top of all this, there wasn't any rust on any of the fishing stuff (hooks, needles, pins etc), so i figure I lucked out on this one.

I'm anxious to compare it to the rat kit that I have on order. Hopefully the postman gets it here post haste.
