How many of your knives users?

1% of mine are users.

Almost 400 knives (not that many considering how long I've been at it), and four of them are users. :D

Every one of them. I started getting rid of my non-users about a year ago. I'm down to about 14 knives now (both FB and folders) that I carry and use at least two or three times a year.

all of mine are users, 50% of mine are actually used and only about 5% are "hard" use...

Nearly all folders are users with a few exceptions. The folder exceptions are autos which are legal to for me to own but not to carry. I will use some of them around the house but my BM AFO and a couple others remain unused. An unusual exception is a full retail display of Wenger SAKs. The display can't be opened without breaking it so all those knives are unused. I have one nice folder and a fixed blade Busse that were purchased to use but I ended up changing my mind. Both will be sold soon.

Fixed blades I have a number of Non-Users. Some came as gifts. Others are just cool to look at but to collectable to use.

At the moment I'm probably after another 20 different knives where about six will be non-users. All are either Ontario or Spyderco with all the non-users being from the Ontario line. Lastly I may pick up one of the Mega folders being made by a couple of the guys here. It will be a user.

Sorry I got so wordy! This MAC keyboard just goes by itself sometimes!

All my knives are users.
But then again, I only have one Spyderco (Sage II (Thank you Bladeforums members for the recommendations)), a cheap Sanrenmu, and a couple of Swiss Army knives.
:)

I try for all users but go through streaks of lust buying. Then when the buyers remorse sets in, it's traded or given away. The core stays though. And I have the core group better refined as time goes on. It worked out well for me with machetes. A Cold Steel Mag Kukri and Condor Parang cover my needs and that was that. My large chopper was finalized when I realized that I can't let go of my old Becker Brute, so to hell with it. I put micarta on it and that big friggin truck leaf spring will ride in a pack. My real struggle is in the 4-7 inch F.B. category. They have come and gone. After a purge I think that I only have an ESEE 4 and BK-2 right now, but there is something about an ESEE 6 that I can't shake. And I'm waiting for just the right Scrap Yard FB to show up on their site, it's been close. I'd be perfectly happy to waltz through the bush with an ESEE4 and the Brute or a machete. Folders ? Good lord, I have gone through those like grain through a goose. They are cheap and fun, like buying a chocolate bar for your sweet tooth.

The vast majority of my knives are 'users'. It wasn't always that way, until I discovered how much fun actually using them was.

Classic! :D:D:D

All of mine are users except the KaBar Mark 1 I bought because I liked the design so much. It's not so much that it's a safe queen as I just don't have need of a fixed blade anymore. I can't go back into the woods like I used to for medical reasons. In the places to which I am limited to roam, a fixed blade would cause raised eyebrows and questions from the constabulary. But I do love that Mark 1 and wish I'd had it when I was younger.

But aside from that, I use all my knives.

I love knives, but regardless of the price I pay I expect them to be users 100% of the time or there isn't a need to have them. None of my knives sit in a safe other than to store them but they aren't there for show, rather to take a break from the use they go through on a regular basis; this applies to folders and fixed blades. My motto is if I haven't played with or used the knife in a week I need to find it a new home and myself another knife that will be used.

Out of 1,000 knives or so I have probably used about 20 so I guess 2% users and 98% safe queens.

Every knife I have has been a user at one time or another. The older slip joints don't see much use anymore but they are still good to go. If you don't use a knife you sure won't know if it is a good knife or not. Safe queens are a waste of money IMHO.

I use them all. Problem with having a lot of knives is it's hard to give them all attention. When I haven't used a knife in a long time I usually end up selling it.

I have a couple pocket knives that were my grandfathers. Those don't get used anymore, just too much sentimental value. The others make it through the rotation depending on what my needs are, camping, hiking, bbq'ing :)

My butchering and hunting knives of course....maybe 20? EDC,s....and my kitchen knives.....Nobody! touches my knives without my consent.......FES

Out of 150 +/- knives in my collection their are only a handful ( 5 or 6) knives that I don't use and that is due to them having sentimental value that IMO isn't replacable if these said knives are lost.

Just about all of my knives are users, save for a couple that are in need of repairs and one or two that are duplicates of discontinued or limited edition users.

When I find that I have a knife that's not getting used ever, I sell it. Generally I go a while without selling any knives and then have some great big purge of my collection. Lately I've been selling off a whole wack of knives, including some of the duplicate knives I've bought (Cyclone, Orange Manix 2, etc.), because I just don't see the point in having them and not using them.
