How many "ordinary" people did you turn into "knife" people??

Lots! Probably 3 digets. There is a problem with giving someone a good blade. I used to take vacations and carry my stones. Everyone wants you to sharpen there most hammered and/or loved blade. They like the blade and waited for me to sharpen it for them. Ofcourse Grandma gets her knifes sharpened, all the rest get a lesson on sharpening.

First off I have to give credit where due to those that got me interested in blades. Though I've had appreciation for blades all my life it was my dad that first showed me the quality and workmanship of a custom blade a Martin Prudente some 20 years ago. I was able to fight off this consuming disease but over the years I've been fully infected and now that I'm a firmly committed knifeaholic. I regularly infect others. The easiest way is to give knives away to those you see that may hold the spark of interest. Made some good friends this way. Gifts of knives to relatives and friends are a very personal item which is usually appreciated, long kept and remembered. I don't know that I've given anyone the full fledged disease as I've got it but I know of many that are in the early phases because of their exposure thru me.

Two so far, working on two others.

First two are friends (twins but not identical) that had a birthdary a little while back. My gift to them was two plain edge Enduras. They might not be nuts, but they can appreciate them.

My stepbrother was recently amazed when he saw my knife collection. He wasn't sheeple but now seems to have his interest piqued more. I'm working on finding a knife to give to him as a very belated birthday gift (we both kind of let it slide this year).

The fourth is a another classmate who I got a Spyderco Cricket for as part of a birthday gift. I already had given her a poem I wrote closer to her actual birthday (it was still a week or two late since I was sick and had to make up some work) but the Cricket wasn't in stock at 1SKS when she had a party about a month later so I'm going to give it to her in person one of these days soon when we're both free. Not that I mind. I much prefer to spend whatever time I can alone with this particular girl than at a place with lots of people

I've converted one, and warmed the attitudes of quite a few around me.

My buddy picked up this thing for applegate-fairbain's (the folders), while at the same time holding the "getting a knife" thing at arms length. Then one evening I was meandering around ebay when I saw and an A/F full size for a real good price. I jokingly sent him and ICQ message about it. But, his response came back, "Err, really? Send me the link."

Mwuhahhahaa! I had won.

Now he carries a knife that's bigger than anything I've got and thinks the wood inlayed sebenzas are to die for.

I always look for the clip, too. Even in this relatively rural state of PA, knife clip sightings are rare. I ran into a guy once carrying a bm cqc7, and one time two of the guys working at taco bell each had two knives clipped to them. Although I didn't go and ask them to show me what they had and whip out their knives in front of all the rest of the customers in the middle of their shift.

Ummm...about 20 or so over the last 6 years. They at least carry a knife now. I wouldn't say they were "knuts" like me, but who is?

Three friends, one of 'em my girlfriend. But they had the blood for it...they just needed a little nudge.
In the last couple years though i've also become the 'knife person to talk to' apparently, with all my friend's friends etc etc. It's nice to help the little people become knife knuts

"I wouldn't mind you being inside my head if you weren't clearly so crazy."

"I do not conform according to your opinion."

Somewhere in the neighbor hood of 15 or so, most of them at work. I converted my mom by giving her a SAK as a gag gift for Christmas a few years ago, she now keeps it in her purse and remarks frequently about how useful it is. My brother decided to start carrying a Gerber EZ-Out and was heard to remark about how often you will use a knife if you have one with you. Several of the EMS people I work with have also started carrying a decent knife and multi-tool after messing around with some of my stuff.

I totally converted one of my friends that was down the hall from me in the building. He told me one day that he wanted a knife that was around $30. Then I started telling him all about knives and showed him my BM mini stryker. I took him to the knife store down the street and he walked out with a mini afck. After that he got a melpardue auto, then a nemesis, then a few LUDTs. Getting your friends into knives is great because aside from having someone to talk to you can check out their new knives!!

I've turned 3 of the "just curious" types into people who carry daily. I'm working on my 4th. The way I do it is sell them a $30-$50 knife I no longer use for between $5-$10. It seems to give them a little more appreciation than just giving it to them, and few people will spend more than that on their 1st knife. It's worked so far.
