How many packs/kits do you keep?

I've got a total of six going from a large Kelty daypack to a small Altoids tin. I've got them stashed in my vehicles and two in the house. One kit's in a MountainSmith lumbar pack, another in a smaller lumbar pack of some unknown brand, one in a Maxipedtion Jumbo Versipack, and two little ones made mostly for fun.

The gear is pretty much duplicated in each pack so I can grab any of the four larger ones knowing what's inside. I don't do intentional overnighters so I don't keep a backpack filled up anymore. All of these larger four kits have all the basics for shelter, fire, water containment, cooking, wool socks and or gloves, a knit cap, lighting, writing and signaling materials, back-up knife, etc.

How about you? Have you got multiple kits or one primary bag?

I have no idea.

I'm a serious gear whore.

I went through my walk in closet full of stuff a few weeks ago, and dragged it out to see what I was going to get rid of to pare down my holdings. Three things happened:
1.) When I pulled them out and put them on the spare bed, I got about 3/4 of them out of the closet when the bed frame collapsed. D'OH!
2.) I had a MUST HAVE reason for every single bit of it.
3.) I found a few things like canteens that had no pouch, cup or stove for them, so I ended up ordering more stuff to complete the stuff that I have too much of.

And I still have a shopping list of stuff I want to try.

Having backpacked for 20 years and worked for Madden Mountaineering for a few years back in the '90s I've amassed quite a few backpacks. I believe I have 12 at last count not including messenger bags. All my Madden packs are best packs I own. They are damn near indestructible and are perfect in their simple design.

If this is only kits in the house, than maybe 2 in bags, and 4-5 in tins/small bags. Keep one in my room, and there is a small bag near each door. One is also stashed right behind the couch. If this includes in total, add 2 car kits, which were made a long time ago by my dad for when we went hunting, and vacation.

3. One in the house, one in the truck, and my EDC which is usually with me (sometimes just in the truck). Many items repeated in each one, all are basic survival kits and nothing too fancy which I keep adding too as $ becomes available.

A monster external frame pack so I can carry other peoples stuff, One winter day pack with snowshoes, One full size pack for fishing trips, with belly boat inside, One full size pack for general back packing, trail hikes three day trips by myself, two day and a half packs set up as bug out bags, One pack for the automobile, just in case, and a day pack with the basics for every day use.

Bush-whacking pack (Kifaru Pointman)

Canoe/fishing pack (Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon)

There are a few more in the mix including all the smaller shoulder bags, lumbar-styled packs and my RIBZ; plus my wife and kids' packs...

I only keep a few fully packed and ready to go, but extra gear does get stored in them.

With mine and sons, probably 10. PSKs, about 15 with extra gear to add if depleted. I'm a ridiculous gear whore, always looking for more.

I keep 3 kit bags:

1. BOB in the car. Contains spare outdoor clothing and boots, as well as tools and other essentials.

Actually had to make of the clothing, as detailed in this thread - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704559

2. Work bag. Has everything I need for work and contains a useful amount of EDC gear for just in case.

3. Hiking pack. Everything I need for a long day in the hills.

Glad to see I'm not the only who rather than simply moving one kit from vehicle to vehicle has justified making one for each vehicle and one for the house with a couple of small kits for fun.

I have a daypack and numerous backpacks but basically I have a huge pile of stoves and crap upstairs and just fill whichever with whatever I may need for whatever I'm doing.

1. Maxpedition Remora - EDC bag
2. Maxpedition Fallcon II - BOB/Hiking bag
3. RC-5 with pouch on sheath, fire kit in metal box in sheath.

I have one giant duffel bag which has 2 back packs (one for me and one for my girl) with everything you would need +5 days of food thats 5 days of full meals it could easily ba rationed to last a month or more.

Like most here I have way too many/not enough. Off the top of my head I have a car kit, Grab bag/day hike/fun kit, Airline safe travel kit, In country Grab Bag kit and an In country Med Kit.

I also have a duffel bag full of bags and gear that haven't been put together and a shopping list to finish all said kits.

I have a Blackhawk 3 Day Pack, Raptor Pack and Attache Case. Would have more if I was not married. Wives just don't understand the need for differant size bags. Or knives for that matter.

Kelty Redwing, 1997, Crossfire DG3, Rivendell Giant.
All loaded for the Apocalypse.
I currently carry the Redwing in the car, full time. About 20 lbs.
The Crossfire is for TEOTWAWKI. 65 lbs.Anti zombie rig.
The Rivendell is my guide pack. 3 daze strandedin the rain forest, three people, plus a few small weapons for gathering food............if need be............40 lbs.

Lets see..
Camelbak BFM, main pack (if you are thinking of getting one, they are slightly heavy so be aware of that)
County Comm Sat Com bag with a Maxpedition Proteus Knockoff, Work vehicle G.H.B.
County Comm Sat Com bag, personal G.H.B. (I ride a bicycle, so it is enough)
Maxpedition Manta, set-up for day hiking
PSK's for each of the above, plus a few kits under construction, so total is about 12

I refuse to answer this on the grounds SWMBO might find it.
