How many "paided members" are there?

I am speaking for myself, but I think its a shame that people are turning it into a rank war, and its truly ruining this place. Have we all forgotten that we used to believe that all members were equal here?

Actually, that's not quite true. About a year ago we had a similar problem pop up. At that time members who had made 100 posts or more would earn the title of Senior Member. Sure enough when you distinguish between the members, a caste sentiment develops on some level, and people naturally assume that the distinction is real. Some senior members started treating the newer members harshly and it finally got to the point we eliminated the titles.

Perhaps we should do the same thing again. I have purchased whatever features added value for me, but why should I have a distinctive title?

I resent that some feel that this has been a brewing attitude problem, because that simply has not been the case. The members are not divisive, but none-the-less we have been divided. Lets' get rid of all the titles and go back to talking about knives.

BTW, I think it would be ok to give Maurice his long coverted "junior bastid" title, though the rest of them should go. :)
 
Being a paid member was an instant no brainer for me.
With the site enhancements and the fact I couldn't post pics:mad: my $ came out fast.

For the love of Pete, please do not pressure people into becoming paying members. That is something I <b>strongly</b> do not want.

Look, I'd love to have 11,000 paying members here, but I'd rather have 1,000 members who want to be here, supporting the forums, than 100,000 who are doing it out of guilt. That's not the way I want this site to operate.

People will join when they feel like it. If they don't, that's their choice as well.

The idea is to make this be a pleasant alternative, not some distasteful option that we'd rather not endure, ok?

RGRAY, though I appreciate the sentiment, please don't browbeat anyone into this, ok?

I see some paid members have developed an attitude that it's "their" forum, or that they are somewhat "better" etc than the rest. That was what could be expected, though.
Stop that! Signing up is voluntary, at least up to this point, and no one should be critized for complaining about something even if they have not joined, unless the tone, choice of words etc in their post makes it appropriate to do so. Remember, a few months ago we were all non-paying members!

To me paying up was natural, to support the site. I think it should also be possible to shop by credit card from Sweden. This way, 1SKS would certainly see an increase in sales from Sweden. :cool:

Hope this does not stir up too much, I only wanted to add to the debate.
 
i hope they dont start 'rating members' like on AK net - you know, when you rate a members posts from 1 to 5 stars - some people really took that very personal - i hope we pass on that if its on the agenda....and hey i'm a gold member, i got some 'pull' around this joint lol- in all seriousness i hope it all works out for everyone.....

Hank is right, move this lame thread to W&C there is no knife content at all. If you move it to W&C we can tell all of these Hi-principal non-joiners how we really feel about them, and their contributions to BFC.

We have Free Prizes for some of you in W&C. We know how some of you like FREE, so please come to Whine & Cheese....Pretty please with whipped cream on it :D

Let's try moving this puppy again. There are a few bastids foaming at the mouth to get their hands on this one.

As of July 25th, 1600HRS, we have 197 paid members, with 90% of them having subscribed as Gold.
