How many Sebenza's are out there?

Watching the production videos for the folders, I don't think its unreasonable to think they make might a 100 a day or so, which would put them near the 30,000 mark. That number seems plausible, but maybe a bit too many, but its hard to tell.

Here's my totally random and non-researched guesswork:

Say they sell 5000 a year into North America (including online / hunting stores / mall knife shops / direct)
Say they sell 500 a year into UK and Ireland
Say they sell 2000 a year into Western Europe and Russia
Say they sell 1000 a year into emerging markets in Asia and oceana
Say they sell 500 a year into South Africa/ Australia / New Zealand
Say they sell 500 a year into Central and South America

That's 9500. I dunno. Feel free to revise these guesses if you think I'm way off.

So, if my good friend Cody is correct in assuming (guessing):D that CRK's current production rate is 100 knives a day (12.5 knives per hour) and they work four days per week fifty weeks per year. (I subtracted two weeks for holidays) that would equate to twenty thousand knives per year.... give or take a knife or two.. Lets say that this figure (20k) has been the norm since 2009 when both the Classic and the Regular were no longer being manufactured. That would be roughly 100,000in the last five and half years. Now, lets assume that prior to 2009 the production rate was half that.. from 2000 thru 2008. So another 50k knives per year for nine years.. additional 450k knives. Then we add in the production rates for the years prior to 2000 at a conservative production rate of twenty five knives per week for seven years.. lets say 10k knives... hmmm there are after rounding, dividing and subtracting.. a little less than 500k Chris Reeve Knives in existence... of which only 383,459 are Sebenzas..
All the best, Dave
And no my math skills are no better than my photography.. ;)

Good one Dave, now how many Umnumzaan's out of those 383,459 they made.Answer this and you are really Master Zaan Man :).

Hmmm.. actually the 383,459 are Sebenzas... The balance (116,541) are all other Chris Reeve folding knives, this would include Umfaan's. Mnandi's Ti-Locks and of course the Umnumzaan. (Fixed blade knives were not included) so of the remaining 116,541 only 48,986 are Umnumzaan's!! ;) of course this is just an estimate. :D

Dave, I think you should go back to the estimator class you took recently. You told me you missed the last 2 classes, right. :D

Only Sebenza user or collector would understand :))

I had a conversation with Chris a few years back and he told me their yearly production. Now for the life of me I can't remember, but I thought it was around 16,000 per year. For how long they have been doing that volume we will likely never know.
