How many times can you sharpen a SAK classic blade/ what do you do after its gone?

Even after significant metal removal, mine works fine.

Mine was given to me by a guy who knew I liked knives, and liked sharpening knives. As a joke, he wore the edge down on the sidewalk until you couldn't tell by feeling which edge was supposed to be sharp, to give me something to sharpen. It took a fair bit of sharpening to get it in good order again, and I've had it for a few years since.

I can also confirm that the classic blade will last just fine. The sterling Classic is no different (blade is not sterling, of course). A small knife like that is used for light, occasional cutting tasks. You will not be dressing caribou with it or chopping wood. Mine gets used daily and only needs occasional touch ups on the Sharpmaker fine stones and after 8 years, I'd predict it would take me more than a lifetime to put visible wear on it.

By the way, the sterling versions look nice, but won't silver tarnish and require polishing? The silver alox version looks virtually as nice IMO and is a fraction of the cost. Highly recommended.
