How many times have you cut yourself by accident?

About three months ago I was messing around with my Rajah II and got the tip of my finger. And just this past Saturday, I dropped a Benchmade 14700 and got 4 stitches on my finger as a result. Thankfully, those are the only two times I've been cut so far. But you know what they say: you're not a knife nut until you've been cut. :p

I've been cut to many times lol. When I thought I wanted to start balisong flipping I cut myself 5 times in a few hours with a Bradley Kimura 2. I sold it the next day, haha flipping wasn't for me.

Haha, the Kimura II I picked up off of you? The first thing I did was to dull the edge up on some diamond stones, and tape up the edge. No cuts for me...yet :)

I've probably cut myself many more times than I can remember. Usually they are small shallow cuts, that, after having accidentally cut myself so many times, I hardly feel anymore. Most of the time they happen when I'm sharpening--I do so freehand, and sometimes I don't pay as much attention as I should.

I cut myself almost everyday, twice today,i am always cutting something or stabbing boxes at work.My arms are also pretty bare.

At least twice in the past seven days! :o :D

I guess it's just a hazard of the hobby. I like to tell myself that it teaches me to be more careful. I guess I'll have to wait and see how true that is...

Put the edge into my thumb while cutting a cold bagel.
The initial cut usually doesn't hurt much, if at all. What's annoying is when it's sore while healing - or worse, it's on or near a joint and tears open again from activity.

More times than I can count. Rarely anything serious, though - so far I've only needed stitches once. *knock on wood*

Only two really bad times where I needed stitches. I was fresh out of college and didn't have insurance the first time. I had to get 4 stitches. Ended up being like 1800 bucks. I learned my lesson. The second time I got cut where I needed stitches too, I skipped the ER. Cleaned my wound really well and got some liquid bandaid. Pressed the laceration together and applied the liquid bandaid, which I knew wouldn't hold long term. Once dry, I added a generous layer of super glue on top of the liquid bandaid. Healed up as good as the time I got stitches and maybe even faster.

A trick my marine friend taught me.

only twice badly, probably needed stitches on both in hind sight but I hate needles so that didn't happen :D Chicks dig scars

Usually though only one small cut every few weeks though these days, I used to be much worse but eventually learned how not to get cut up.

I haven't cut myself bad...in several years, but that last time, I had a brand new Spyderco serrated edge close on my hand.
I was attempting to cut a strap off of a box at work, so I flipped the knife over and slid it under the strap and pulled. I didn't realize the strap was reinforced with metal, so when I pulled back, the blade slid out from under the strap and closed on my hand...due to the fact that I also didn't realize my finger was depressing the lock button from the pressure of lifting the knife as I pulled.

When I went to the clinic to get sewed up, the worst pain I had ever felt was when the nurse cleaned the inside of the wound by scrubbing it like she was trying to cleans pots and pans with an SOS pad. I was literally crying out like a little girl, LOL!!

It could've been worse. When the blade closed, it missed the main tendon that runs across the top of my first knuckle by mere millimeters.

About 5 years ago I sliced the top part of my left index finger clean off with a Spyderco Chinook. It was agonizing pain when it went through the tendons and nerve. Luckily the surgeon was able to reattach it. However I can't feel that part of my finger anymore.

Knives, are like snakes you can be the professional handler but eventually you will get bit no matter what.

i think every knife i bond with has put a few love bites into me in the first few hours of having it/playing with it..and ive bonded with quite a few knives in my life.
