My wife was going to get me a new Marble's and Fred was very unprofessional to her. He replied pretty snippy in a couple of emails and hung up the phone on her twice. She said nothing out of the way. Bad day? Anybody else have trouble? I think this is pretty bad and the worst part is............I get no knife!

I find that hard to beleive. I am not saying it did not happen, just that it is hard to beleive that Fred would do that for no reason. Everyone has a bad day or maybe it involves some error in communication somewhere.

Someone needs to move this to GBU BTW :)
 
After getting jerked around on an item that was represented as being available, only to find, as with many marginal dealers, and a good amount of time after they secured my order and CC data, did they finally disclose that the item was not available.

Their attempts to "hold my order" was resisted by me and their reply was short and not so sweet.

The way I see it, their smile is a mile wide, but not very deep. I don't shop there.
 
WOW;I have used them three times with good results and pretty fast shipping.I never talked to him on the phone,but e-mails seemed to be pleasant.I'm sad to hear about these unsatisfactory experiences.
 
I've used them before with good results. Always placed orders on the internet, never had any person to person contact. Orders were shipped promptly.:o
 
You can generally figure on my responding in kind. When communications directed at me are designed to needle me or anger me, it's generally successful. As strange as it may seem, there is no natural motivation for me to beat up on customers. Somebody has to start something. By all means relay my apologies for my lack of self control. I do need to work on learning to turn the other cheek. Take care.
 
There are a lot of internet dealers with excellent service, comprehensive stock and "bend over backward" policies. You can't go wrong with any of them. A lot of them post here. I haven't found a bad one out of the bunch.

But nobody will please everybody all the time. I think anybody can get cranky when stressed - this based on my own actions. Sometimes I regret them, sometimes not. If you're jammed up about your treatment, by all means, place your business elsewhere.

As for myself, Fred handles a collector's club that I'm part of, keeps me from messing up choosing optics, and seems to know my taste better than I do. All this, and I know I'm nowhere near being one of his larger customers. I've found Fred to be the best of a very good lot.

In my own business, there's not a dime's worth of difference between my product and my competitor's. Who lives and who tanks is based on customer service. Even knowing this, we lose some; stuff happens. You may find someone who will do you better overall than Fred - good luck, you're going to need it.

I can post those emails if you want to say my wife was trying to make you mad, Fred. You and I know that was not the case. I guess to prove it, she would have had to tape the phone conversations with you hwn you hung up on her twice :rolleyes:. I wish you the best with your business.

I've had one (recent) experience with Fred. Done over the phone. Fast, polite, good price, arrived quickly. Emailed him to thank him and got a nice response. I would do business with him again in a heartbeat.

I can not speak for anyone else; I can only speak for myself. If I said anything to "needle" you or "start" something, bring it on and tell all! You may have been snippy with others for cause, I do not know. All I did was place an order with you and get jerked around. Then you tried to "hold my order." When I decided to go elsewhere and not put up with that nonsense, your reply was short, curt and petulant!

Just wanted to clear the air on my individual experience with your outfit. If I am not speaking the absolute truth then please, by all means, bring it on and tell all!
 
Same with me, Nimrod. Maybe it was just you and I he did this too, but that's 2 customers he won't be doing it to anymore.

I guess there are folks on both sides on this issue. My one experience with Fred was efficient and pleasant. I e-mailed him to thank him and got a nice response.
