How many use their lanyards?

In his WB Mod 10 review, Greg Walker wrote, "The first thing I did was cut the generous lanyard loop down and burn the 550 cord tips so they wouldn't unravel or fray. I left roughly 1/4" of 550 cord per end just in front of the securing knot at the pommel. Although a great feature for securing the knife when working at height or around water, a generous lanyard loop gets in the way if you're using the knife with offensive/defensive purposes in mind. Off it went."

I'm curious. Do many of you guys actually use your lanyards? I cut the lanyard off my DB, left it on my BT-SS...

I have lanyards on all my knives. I work over ocean water off my boat at times at the Cape. I also find a length of lanyard to be usefull for other occasional use.

I do not tie decorative lanyards, all of mine are the loop variety.

In a defensive/offensive knife use situation a BG's hand could grab onto the lanyard or become stuck in the lanyard. This would be bad.

I however have never used a knife in a "real world" defensive situation.

I warned you, Lynn, didn't I?!! You got your head caught in one again, didn't you?

Strider HT is my dive knife. The sheath is from BuyBrown. The lanyard is just a little extra security, but it could still get lost I suppose. Even the most secure equiptment has a tenedency to get lost on ocassion in the water. ec
