I try to be more careful with my more expensive knives, but all get used at some given point.

No safe queens for me. I can't afford to buy a knife and not use it.

I have one safe queen, and it's a limited edition Skyline. Which is funny since it's the second cheapest blade I own. I typically use the hell out of all of mine, but I just can't bring myself to beat on my brown Skyline for some reason. Probably because it's one of two knives Kershaw has ever offered with brown G10, and the other being the 0302.

I carry and use all my knives, but ones that come with uncoated D2 or M4 I use less because too lazy to wipe clean the blade each day after I handled it.

Won't buy a knife without the intention of using it. I have carried the same model of SWA in my pocket for 43 years. I have lost two and immediately replace the lost one because I can't live without it. It comes out of my pocket every day, even if is only to use the leather punch to clean my finger nails (best nail cleaner on the planet). This knife is referred to as my MPHK ( multi- purpose hammer knife). The saw blade has been used to cut 2x4s and very effectively. Best EDC ever IMHO.

By the way, I am considering myself quite insane for considering spending up to $200 on a knife right now, but I have some bonus money burning a hole in my pocket and my guitar collection has gone about as far as I care to take it. I play all of those too. Some more than others.

Combatives training taught me to keep my SD blades consistent, so I do. I keep these pristine, which means sharp (and not "users" in that sense). I do also EDC a utility blade, and for this role, I take users. I have more knives than utility need, so by that alone, some/most of my knives not users. However, I don't buy knives to purposely not use - if the call came in, I'd use it. It's sort of like, if I had more time to go to strip joints, I'd be spending more money on strippers. :D I kid.

All of my modern knives are users. The only safe queens are the collector knives that belonged to my grandfather or others I've received as gifts.

I try to maintain at least a 1% User selection. So at 500+ knives, I have about five users. So exactly 1%.

Actually, I had fallen behind recently. Only had three Users until 2 recent estate sale purchases. :)

I only have one unused knife. A custom made by my Uncle, who sadly passed away.

I have never cut anything with it.

Other than that, everything I buy is for use. No real safe queens, and no accumulation (though I do have two knives, Schrade branded GEC made slipjoints, NIB for my two sons when their fingernails are strong enough to open them).
