How many?

Several BMs, a slew of Spydies, a half dozen Spydie collaborations, a few customs,(straight and folders) and a sh*tload of antique slipjoints.

- Confining yourself to knives OVER US$100 (say to just include the BM 705, although yes you can get one for just under that), how many knives do you guys own exactly?

- Following from that, what percentage of those do you intend to use?

- Finally, what is the breakdown percentage - folder c/w fixed - in each case? Meaning overall and for those you use - two figures.

1. At present, 1. And you can get it for less if you get a good deal. I actually only have about $20 in it.

2. 100%.

3. This isn't really necessary.

I just went downstairs to the display room and counted all the crap I have.
Not all of this is relevent to the topic but I was once again reminded of what BF has done for me, and there's also some interesting stats.

BEFORE I FOUND BLADEFORUMS
I bought a total of 83 knives, ranging from (all cheap n crappy of course) Katana's, to eye-appealing fixed blades to fantasy daggers and alot of crap in between.
83 knives, 0 worth $100 or more. Actually, none are worth $50 or more. :hangs head in shame: I had no idea the stuff was crap :barf:

AFTER I FOUND BLADEFORUMS
I've bought a total of 8 knives including the one I'm sending payment for tommorow (first sebbie, woohoo :D). All are folders, I havn't bought any fixed blades yet. 5 of them are worth over $100.
I use 99% of the knives I've bought since finding BF.com. The only one I don't use is the MT Tachyon.

On a side note:
My collection sucks compared to some of yours :grumpy:. I wish I hadn't settled for the next to nothing unemployment gave me for six months.

Switched,

It's too bad that your continent wasn't inundated with McGruff the Crime Dog propaganda (though we, in the States, have more BeeGees albums and Bananas In Pajamas videos than we know what to do with... ...well, aside from boogying and sniggering at Cuddles Avenue's most famous residents).

To the tune of McGruff's "Users are Losers/Don't Use Drugs" song:
******************************************************
Users are losers
And losers lose value
So don't use knives
Don't use knives
Users get scratches
And rust in small patches
So don't use knives
Don't use knives

If you know someone who uses even part of the time
Tell him to quit and save the factory grind

Users are losers
And losers lose value
So don't use knives
Don't use knives!
******************************************************

To betray my hypocrisy in writing that parody, I have 13 knives valued over that much and I use 9 regularly. One is a 941D2CF that I've only used once (to remove tape from my wife's birthday gifts) and the other three are fixed blades (one is an Applegate Carebear single-edged fighting knive, so it doesn't follow me around much). The rest go with my < $100 left-handed knives into a two week rotation.

I've been carrying one knife clipped to my left and my Griptillian clipped to my right for two weeks at a time to get to know my knives better. 5 weeks into it, I've found that I love using my Spyderco Delica and my BM 921 Switchback, but that the Spyderco Native isn't my favorite. To be fair, my Native is comfy and holds its edge well when slicing up aluminum cans, but it's not my favorite.

Reeve makes very expensive Sebbies with the hopes that they'll be used hard and enjoyed and so do many custom makers. Why turn their works into white elephants?

There are some in the box over $100.
