I am distrustful of people in general. Personality is a bigger factor than looks - well, to a certain extent.
Anyways, over the summer one of my friends got a big crush on a girl who was all though we pretty good looking (in retrorespect we all had huge goggles, i.e. mineshaft syndrome, and she had the advantage of being exotic, a visitor from a ROTC program). She was, in fact, a very nice person, But the more people treated her special, the more she came to expect special treatment, to the point of violating rules. Early in the summer, she borrowed a knife from me to open a package and cut her thumb very badly - my friend somehow figured that it was my fault and chewed me out about it (he later apologized).
So I agree and disagree with the OP. I think it's a complicated phenomena.
About Simona - I wasn't the (nonexistent, as far as I can tell) "teasing" that pissed people off, it was the BS. And let's face the facts, she was full of BS, and a drama queen to boot.
