How much can 154cm take before it chips

Resharpening it really isn't the issue, the steel should not have behaved that way. The steel might be bad at the edge or it might be shot right through the blade. They do make bad ones on occasion. I just had a Skirmish which chipped out exactly like that just during sharpening. Not as large, but in the same manner.

lol I dont know what that was. I think some sort of paper of my brother from health class.
 
Timmy, even if I resharpen it. the problem may still be there. benchmae is not perfect. Like cliff said it may have been a bad batch or somthing.


I took my Military out to do the same work. The S30V, remained so sharp it was scary. if i really did something that bad it may have chipped that to.


I cut trees, that is it, maybe some other light brush.

Please timmy dont act like benchmade is perfect and they dont make mistakes. becosue they arent the best.

I dont think Benchmade is perfect, it's just nobody believes what you post, especially when it comes to Benchmade or Spyderco. ;)

yeah the paper was from my brothers health book. from health class in school. Does it matter what i read. i dont see why or how me reading about STD's is bad.

but i dont relaly care if people belive me. I am posting here becoause i had a recent problem with a purchase. people like Cliff and other who know what they are talking about with knives help. Somthing you really dont get at the benchmade forums.

maybe I photoshopped those chips in both blades. Lol you benchmade fans are pretty funny.


BTW this knife is my brothers. I am trying to get this problem resolved for him.

no way id take a 710 over a MIlitary or Manix
 
There's no way light brush, the kind you can actually cut with a 4" blade, can do that to 154 CM, 440C, S30V, insert your favorite steel here, etc. even if it had a bad heat treat and or even if it were made out of anodized aluminum, hell even if it were 10 below freezing. He must have hit something hard multiple times or scraped it along some concrete etc. It's a bogus post. Don't waste your time.

U can be a fan of Benchmade and be a fan of other knife companies at the same time you know. And i dont see how ppl arent trying to help you at BMF. If we're so bad why do you keep coming back after u get kicked off? And Jason (BMSTII) made you a really great offer. To fix the knife free of charge? Just because your a dick doesnt mean the people around you are. I swear you and the sebenza4ever guy. I would think you 2 are related. Owell you can go back to reading about your little gannorhea problem now. ;)

il take Cliffs 8,731 and being a member since 1998 over your 118 or how ever many you have posts, any day. Call it what you want. Il take his word for it.

and yeah it was light brush. Just branches and maybe a smaller tree here and there. Now you tell me how, if a forrest without hitting anything harder than steel, how it could chip.

I didnt hit anything with it. I have no reason to. can you tell me why i would want to waste 3-4 weeks of time sending a knife into benchmade that I just got yesterday.

are you kidding me.

Yeah I buy a knife, oh this knife is great but lets send it to benchmade and wait a month to get it back.

Yes it could. Untempered martensite is *extremely* brittle for example. Here is a knife used for very light chopping on woods :

The edge literally exploded, this was on soft fir, and just light chopping.

The edge on the Skirmish I recently worked on could not even withstand the pressure of the flats of the Spyderco rods.

I have no idea of course if 5022 is telling the truth, but that damage is possible as he described it.

Honestly guys the Knife came pretty dull. It was sharp, to some standard, but it could not cut throgh computer paper. I dont know if this is a Benchmade standard but my 705 was crazy sharp and still is. So far it has performed better than that 710. I put it to the sharpmaker with a 40 degree angle for just about 10 swipes per side. It then cut throgh the paper with some force. Nothing compared to the 705 thogh. Its my brothers knife so I took my new Military and he took his 710 and we went up to the park and started to cut branches. Just to use the knives.

He did everything i did and I put my Military throgh some rougher stuff. such as just hacking at 4" trees and stuff. Whcih i did bring down. He was cautious of his knife becoaue it was his first knife. he wanted to keep his first knife nice. Just like we all did.

We came back and this moruning it was all chipped like the picture, on the last page. I then tried to get them out with the sharpmaker but, they wouldnt come out. so i made these posts. I made this post because i coudlent beleaved that this knife chipped so easy.

Where do you get off tell me im mad working in a warehouse? I dont work cuz im "financialy unfit" u dick i work because my school requires u to have a part time job. And honestly im a 15 year old kid i dont mind getting dirty in work. Just cuz i dont bum money off of my parents like you at age ****in 19 doesnt mean im what you call "poor" I honestly dont give the tiniest **** how "rich" u think i am im still not you and thats good enough.
