How much do you spend a year collecting knives?

No idea...a few grand at least. This year will be a new record though. One knife is $2800 all on its own.

Last year I spent about $1,200. This year it might be less because we're fixing up the house and I also want a new Glock.

Hmmmm, I want to see what your IP address is, I have this bad feeling you're my wife in disguise. :)

So, to answer your question, oh, about $20 a year or so...

Just on folders, I would estimate around $1500 CDN (just in case my wife reads this!!!) LOTS more in things for my knifemaking supplies - I'm not going to mention a dollar amount here because "Until death do us part" could take on a whole new meaning!!! Actually, she's pretty great that way. I try to add one every couple of weeks, though that can change if I have to order stateside, or something else more expensive catches my eye. Just depends on money available - I got to lunch at one of the malls close to where I work with some of my co-workers every week or so, and drop by House of Knives "just to take a quick look" :D If "something" is there, I will usually get it as long as the money is available. I got my BM Mini Ambush that way. I was actually surprised it was there and danged if it wasn't a PE :D For 2005, it's going to be a little tougher to estimate. I find my tastes are changing and I'm becoming more selective, so I will probably spend pretty well the same amount, just in fewer folders.

I think I spent about 1000k last year  . I just totaled the amount of knives I bought, what I remembered the prices to be, and wow. I think I bought about 200 bucks already this year, but most of that is from what I made selling on eBay. Gear wise, I think I paid about 15.00, for two knife rolls (the one is great, the other fell apart, my Boker Congress with bird dogs on it fell out and got nicked up pretty badly :grumpy: ). I also bought another sharpener for serrations, and, time wise, improvised some leather for a belt loop on my Crawford fixed Falcon from CRKT (tore that snap off and chucked it).

If I mentioned how much I spend on knives per year (mainly shipping costs from trading back and forth), and if my wife were to get ahold of this information, I'd be dead-meat, so, due to self-preservation, I'm keeping mum.:D.

If your wife were to read a post like the one above, you would also be dead meat.

I spend between $2000.00 and $4000.00 every year. This year so far, $1700.00.

Hmm - wish you hadn't asked because now that I am thinking about it - too much

In past, 2 or 3 years ago I probably spent $500 - $700 a year. Then I got into firearms, then got a nice bicycle, then a Honda CBR ... so the knives thing has been on hold for a while. I recently liquidated several knives and intend to turn that cash into a few higher quality knives that are more likely to see use (or at least be carried).

I'm afraid to know. Seriously. But as an average over the last six years (when I was finally old enough to buy knives without asking my parents first  ), probably about $600-$700 a year. That's just a guess since I haven't really been keeping track. Hmm, do you suppose this might explain why I owe $7000 on credit cards? Time to start keeping records.
