How much does Buck charge to buff off the black finish on a black blade?

I have a Buck Strider 889 with a black blade. I prefer satin.

How much does Buck charge to buff off the black finish on a black blade?
How much does Buck charge to swap out the black blade for a satin blade?
 
HI, welcome ot bladeforums. If my memeory serves, there was a thread over in the "knives and testing" section about removing the black on these knives with naval jelly. You might try a search over there.

Buck does a blade swap program for their 110's, but I haven;t seen that they do it for these Striders.
 
I recently bought an 889 and have been thinking about removing the black coating too. I tried a small area and found out that it buffs off pretty easily with Scotchbrite, at the expense of some slight spider web scratches. They're very fine, I can probably polish those out easily later. Might do the whole thing later, haven't decided yet.

FWIW, I couldn't find the thread TLC mentioned, but what I did learn from others was Naval Jelly should be treated with care if you decide to go that route.

Naval Jelly" rust dissolver + Gun Blue & rust remover + Dremel & Blue Magic" Metal Polishing cream takes the black oxide finish off but I'm looking for a nice even satin finish.

Does Buck offer a service to buff off the black and create a nice even satin finish? How much does the service cost?
